Quality Control Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining quality control processes, supervising, and guiding staff, measuring results and giving feedback to the operations and shop teams. Ensures materials, product and processes meets required specifications, Agate Steel Quality Management System, and customer requirements.

Qualifications/Skills:

• CWI Required
• 35 years Welding/Steel Shop Experience
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding code
• Familiarity with NDT processes – UT, PT, MT * NDT Level II for UT & MT is a plus but is not required
• Knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Standards For Structural Steel Fabrication
• Computer Proficiency – Microsoft Suite
• Tekla understanding is a plus
• Attention to detail/thoroughness/organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively present information on a one-on-one and small group situations
• Good record keeping

Responsibilities

• Ability to demonstrate and communicate the effectiveness and importance of safe work practices. Understanding and commitment to safety.
• Lead team of shop QC Inspectors
• Communicate quality control information to Steel Shop and Field Teams as required
• Assist with auditing, writing, revising, and verifying quality standards, procedures, records and developing forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality data
• Responsibility of the Implementation and modifications of the Quality Management System
• Perform visual, dimensional and paint Inspections
• Perform visual inspections to specified code
• Perform dimensional inspections to approved shop drawings, codes and specifications
• Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes
• Identify quality problems and recommend solutions
• Assist fitters and welders on shop floor with problem solving
• Monitor welders
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Develop and maintain WPS/PQR, Welder Qualifications and welder continuity logs
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Responsible of the control of calibrated instruments
• Responsible of the Internal Audit System

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift, and or push/pull up to 50lbs
• Ability to see and use close, distance and peripheral vision
• Able to bend, squat, kneel, reach, twist
