SUMMARY
Reporting to the President, the successful candidate will be responsible for establishing, implementing, directing, and continually improving AFM’s quality management systems. The Director of Quality will develop and champion initiatives to reduce defects, improve supplier quality, mitigate compliance risk, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the development and implementation of quality plans that meet customer requirements
- Provide quality, technical and process expertise in support of daily production to minimize non-conformances and ensure customer requirements are met
- Directs efforts to minimize the cost of quality including scrap, rework, and field failures
- Interface with customers, suppliers, and auditors to ensure compliance
- Respond to customer quality concerns, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Build capability within the quality team to support strategic growth plans through hiring, training, and organizational changes
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within to improve throughput, efficiency, and accuracy, including automation of test methods and data reporting
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 10-15 years of hands-on quality experience
- Quality management experience in an AS9100 environment
- Experience in aerospace & defense industries preferred
- Knowledge of CNC machining, metal-forming and fabrication processes associated with tight tolerances
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate personnel
- Strong communication skills, with ability to respond and relate to customers, suppliers’ regulatory agencies
