Responsibilities
- Promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis, providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies.
- Maintains instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening and sterilizing instruments.
- Arrests dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity- preventing agents.
- Educates patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions and providing reminders of time of next dental hygiene visit.
- Recognizes diseases of the periodontium in patients, can explain disease to the patient and discuss treatment options in the form of dental cleanings.
- Develop a successful periodontal maintenance schedule that promotes the oral health of the patient and that they agree with.
- Accurately assess patients utilizing periodontal charting, plaque index, and more.
- Expose diagnostic quality radio-graphs.
Qualifications
