Affini-T is Hiring a Research Associate III Near Seattle, WA

Affini-T Therapeutics is an emerging biotechnology company focused in building a “best-in-class” TCR therapy platform. Our innovative method of discovering high affinity TCRs specific to oncogenic mutations is used to develop solid tumor therapies. Through the application of gene editing and synthetic biology, our focus is enhancing T-cell fitness to overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.

Affini-T Therapeutics is announcing a Research Associate III opportunity at their facility in Seattle, WA.Responsibilities:The Process Development Associate III will be responsible for advancing PD activities within the Affini-T technology platform. Performing lab experiments, analyzing/presenting data, and interpreting data will be the primary responsibilities of the successful applicant. A close working relationship with Manufacturing will also be essential in order to translate the small-scale experiments into clinical and commercial scale processes.
Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs experiments and presents resulting data to Process Development team and other groups within the company.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of T-cell immunology and cell biology as it applies to cell therapy production.
  • Assists in the implementation of closed-system cell processing technologies.
  • Performs analytical assays, primarily flow cytometry-based assays for phenotype, functional testing (cytotoxicity, proliferation), and others critical quality attributes.
  • Independently troubleshoot and solve technical problems with instrumentation, reagents, and experimental designs with light input from management.
  • Timely and thorough documentation and/or completion of electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets, and presents results.
  • Prepares technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to help with daily operations as needed, as part of a small but rapidly growing start-up company

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in the life sciences (or equivalent) and 4 years of academic or biopharmaceutical industrial experience or MS/MA degree and 2 years of experience is required.
  • Cell culture experience required.
  • Flow cytometry experience preferred.
  • Direct experience within the cell therapy field is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis of process development data and DOE methodology utilizing software such as JMP or Minitab is preferred.
  • Excellent scientific writing and editing as well as written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive and flourish in an entrepreneurial early-stage company environment that requires "hands-on" implementation, optimal use of limited resources and an ability to work closely with others in a small team setting.
  • Collaborative team player who has the ability to think and act quickly; identify creative solutions to complex problems, communicate and act quickly to the benefit of the team and meeting objectives.
