AEROSPACE TURBINE ROTABLES, INC. is Hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist Near Wichita, KS

Located in Wichita, Kansas, Aerospace Turbine Rotables (AeTR) is an FAA certified repair station which overhauls and repairs landing gear, landing gear components and actuators, control surface components, and aircraft lighting components. We also specialize in hydrostatic testing and Stratoflex hoses.

Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

The Environmental Health, and Safety Specialist will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.

· Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.

· Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.

· Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.

· Monitors compliance with safety procedures.

· Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.

· Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.

· Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.

  • Tracks all waste generation and accumulation on site and monitors for generator status compliance
  • Ensures proper container management and DOT compliance of hazardous materials offered for transportation
  • Schedules, signs for and tracks disposal of environmentally hazardous wastes (cradle to grave)
  • Facilitates required maintenance and servicing of part washers and paint gun stations
  • Oversees processes regarding RCRA-exempted wastes, recyclable/reusable materials and Universal Wastes
  • Manages waste streams as required, including but not limited to:Creating and updating waste determinations

Reviewing and submitting disposal profiles
Collecting samples for analysis
Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of all waste generation processes

  • Ensures adequate stock of EHS supplies (waste containers, HMIS and DOT labels, spill station contents, etc.)
  • Maintains current training status/certification of RCRA, DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Serves as or appoints Hazardous Waste Emergency Response Coordinator
  • Develops, communicates and maintains emergency response procedures and information
  • Maintains all EHS-related documentation per regulatory requirements
  • Works with supervisors and managers to ensure employee accountability to proper hazardous waste handling
  • Corresponds/coordinates with local, state and federal regulatory entities for reporting, auditing and approval requirements
  • Appoints and trains support personnel for emergency response, waste management and hazmat shipping

· Identifies opportunities for improvement in the EHS program and initiates remedial actions and proactive solutions

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred

· Five years of related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

· Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
