Aerospace Quality Research and Development

Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Department: Engineering
Classification: Exempt
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and as needed after hours for customer needs
Location: Addison, TX
Reports To: Engineering Operations Manager

Education and Experience Required:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or relevant field, with credentials required
  • Eligible for FAA DER delegation a plus
  • 10 years of electrical experience with FAA STC, repair/alterations, and/or PMA projects
    with certification plan development. Project management experience a plus
  • Experience with FAA Part 25 aircraft preferred.
  • 10 years of electrical design experience with CAD Software (Creo or solid works,
    autoCAD preferred)
  • Experience in creating Aerospace Wiring Interconnect, Wiring Schematics, Wiring
  • Harness Drawings using Drafting Standards, and approved CAD Software
  •  Experience with Aerospace Wiring and Installation requirements
  •  Design experience with MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-5015 and MIL-DTL-23308
    connectors and associated strain reliefs (to include Environmental and EMI/EMC) desired
  • Experience with AIRINC 429 and or Mil-STD-1553 architecture configurations
  • Familiar with ASME Y14.44, ASME Y14-24, ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100
  • Liaison/shop floor support experience
  • Be able to demonstrate proficiency with reading/researching aircraft technical data, and
    OEM existing electrical drawings, as required (Practical Exam to be given)
  • Civilian aircraft experience required (Military aircraft experience a plus)
  • Special Mission aircraft system integration a plus
  • Experience with RF systems and Antenna Installation, design, and analysis a plus
  •  Able to prepare Electrical Loads Analysis Documents (ELA’s) for avionics or other
    electrical system changes
  • Practical electrical fabrication experience a plus
  •  Development of ground test plans and flight test plans for avionics equipment evaluation
    must also know aircraft EMI/EMC/RFI testing procedures and knowledge of associated
    MIL Standards and reporting methodologies
  •  Knowledgeable in performing system safety analysis, creating fault trees,
    troubleshooting guides and write and contribute to Failure and Hazard Analysis
  •  Ability to design avionics integration equipment upgrades on platforms
  • Experience working with Garmin, Honeywell, Collins platforms and integrating
    modifications with those OEM systems\\\

 
Primary Duties:

  • Develop drawings, and designs for avionics platforms and other associated electrical
    hardware 
  • Mature internal CAD capabilities and develop internal process standards, techniques and
    practices
  • Support designs through validation testing including generation of test plans and pass/fail
    criteria pertaining to certification of test equipment and formal in-process and system-
    level acceptance testing of deliverable hardware
  • Interface with customers through the product life cycle from validation of requirements,
    support of platform conceptual interface development, requirements verification, sell-
    off, and post-delivery support
  • Work with program teams, including other engineering disciplines and program
    management, to develop design concepts, define and perform trades, develop
    performance models, and decompose and flow down system requirements to lower level
    electrical designs
  • Prepare and present material for formal design reviews, customer meetings, and
    technical proposal activities
  • Development of certification test plans and flight test plans for avionics equipment
    evaluation must also know aircraft EMI/EMC/RFI testing procedures and knowledge of
    associated FAA/ FAR regulations, MIL Standards, and reporting methodologies
  •  Prepare Designs, drawings, and configurations for avionics upgrades using a variety of
    OEM and non-OEM LRU’s and other components. (Integration of ADSB, integration of
    new Stand-by altimeters, Integration of Garmin and Sandel hardware on existing legacy
    aircraft platforms
  •  Coordinate certification requirements with the FAA as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the job classification and nature of the business
