Job Overview

We are seeking a Software Development Engineering Intern to join our team in Los Angeles, CA for summer 2024.

The intern will contribute to the development of embedded real-time control system software and/or application software by performing software requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit test and integration tasks under the guidance and direction of a software development team lead. The ideal candidate would have had exposure to embedded and real-time software concepts and the C/C programing language.

This position will report to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, Los Angeles.

Essential Functions

90% - As a contributor to a software development team, perform requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit test and integration of embedded real-time control system software and/or application software. Participate in the development of software development documentation. Support internal and customer reviews of software development work products.

10% - Support software development process improvement by assessing software process metrics, identifying process gaps, creating and evaluating process improvement options, reviewing and improving metric definition and collection methods, evaluating industry tools and other resources to promote the continued growth and maturity of the software organization.

Requirements

Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Engineering (preferred), but can also consider Math with CS emphasis. Must be returning to school following completion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

Solid academic track record

Demonstrated team work experience

Solid verbal and written communication skills

Experience in software development, especially developing C/C code

Exposure to and/or understanding of CMMI Level 3 and greater software processes

Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Pay range for this position:

22.00 - 33.00 per hour
