Job Description
Segers Aero Corporation located in Fairhope, AL is seeking an Inspector to join our team. We offer a competitive benefits package and a 9/80 work schedule that includes every other Friday off. Apply today!

Position Summary: To complete detailed inspections of gas turbine engine and propeller components and assemblies in accordance with the approved technical data and SAC policies/procedures. The position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations, and as such, the position is subject to drug and alcohol testing per DOT FAA regulations.

Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions with or without a reasonable accommodation)

  • Completes daily inspection assignments as directed by the Supervisor
  • Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds
  • Uses precision measuring instruments to complete inspections in accordance with approved technical data
  • Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly
  • Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag
  • Utilizes the electronic database to complete transactions
  • Completes paperwork required for quality system
  • Assists with job training of other inspection personnel in the completion of inspection responsibilities
  • Keeps a clean work environment using continuous improvement tools
  • Maintains an understanding of the methodology employed by bureaucratic and government organizations, and skills, to deal with the requirements and systems imposed by these organizations
  • Maintains accurate and timely records of inspections
  • Ability to demonstrate inspection proficiency on equipment, inspection methods & techniques, aids, and tools
  • Confers with the Supervisor to recommend changes such as: equipment utilization, production methods, and procedures to increase the efficiency of the department and promote improvement
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
  • Works overtime as needed
  • Other duties as required
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. safety glasses, ear plugs, face shields, etc.)

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: (these are required to enable the job holder to perform the essential functions of the job)

  • Must be knowledgeable in the use of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, hard gages, dial bores gages, height gages, and other surface plate equipment.
  • Must be familiar with the engine components, inspection techniques, and tools used to complete the inspection process.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with and among co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision and take initiative.
  • Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations.
  • Must be able to apply common sense.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must be proficient in company-specific software and Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, and rates and interpret graphs.
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE.
  • Must be able to see within 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses
  • Must be able to hear running machinery
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively
  • Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally
  • Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead
  • Must regularly be able to squat, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and stand
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally

Requirements:

At least 18 years of age or older. High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of relevant aviation inspection experience is preferred. FAA Power Plant license or strong working knowledge in a specialty field. Must pass a criminal background check. Must pass a DOT FAA pre-employment drug screen and possibly a physical and comply with all applicable DOT-FAA required regulations. The position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations, and as such, the position is subject to drug and alcohol testing per DOT FAA regulations. Jaeger and Ishihara eye exams are required upon hire. Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions.

Work Conditions:

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud.
