Aeris Communications is Hiring a Site Reliability Engineer Near Chicago, IL

We are continuing to expand our IoT connectivity offerings to not only include all cellular technologies and services, but also a best-in-class IoT device management, services, and application SaaS platform, as well as alternate connectivity options such as low power WAN (LPWA), Wi-Fi and other short-range networking options.

Aeris is looking for an engineer who is eager to learn new skills and who will work closely with development teams to identify and implement the latest tools, best practices, and processes to rapidly deploy software to production. The Site Reliability Engineer will collaborate with the development engineers to support the packaging, deployment, monitoring, and reliability of Aeris production services. This person will be responsible for production software deployments and be the go-to person for our operations and engineering teams for the ongoing management of our Aeris stack.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy software and infrastructure to production
  • Design, code, and support observability services that provide visibility into the Aeris platform and the underlying services.
  • Write automation scripts for auto-healing of service components.
  • Work with other teams to continuously improve Aeris services and ensure that they continue to meet their service level objectives.
  • Support the tools used for the CI/CD pipeline
  • Scale our cloud infrastructure to support our growing ecosystem.
  • Adhere to industry-standard security best practices.
  • Participate in our on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related degree
  • 2 years of experience in any of a SRE, DevOps or similar role.
  • 2 years of experience in Cloud Platforms, such as Google Cloud, AWS.
  • 2 years of experience with Relational and as no-SQL Databases.(e.g. MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra, CDH)
  • 1 year of scripting experience. Python and Shell scripting preferred.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes
