Director of Project Management
Role Summary
Our client is looking for a Director of Project Management to join their growing team. The Director of Project Management will lead the project management team by supporting business development efforts, project planning, and execution. The ideal candidate is skilled in decision-making and working across practice groups to achieve successful outcomes for clients.
Key Results Area
Suggest and take ownership of initiatives that align with department and company goals
Stand up for the process, team members, and values while also helping team members understand when the needs of projects, clients, or the business require special accommodations
Defines and refines the processes needed for the team to produce their best work for clients, balancing the needs of quality, deadlines, and budgets
Monitors industry trends and ensures best practices are being followed, both for project management and project outcomes as a whole
Participates in the allocations process, working to match business opportunities with the team members best suited to deliver
Provides level-of-effort estimates, keeping client requirements and nuances in mind
Surveys team performance against expectations and guides team members through the processes to ensure they understand what is expected of them
Regularly evaluate the staffing needs of the team; create and update job descriptions; provide screening guidance to the talent acquisition team; review portfolios, conduct interviews; and deliver hiring recommendations
Works with teams to understand challenges and opportunities, assisting team members in understanding the needs of other groups to ensure requirements are communicated and understood
Contributes to marketing efforts, writing blog posts, speaking at company-sponsored events, and assisting with the creation of other marketing materials
Looks for new product offerings based on the state of the industry, both in the project management space, for software and application development in general, and the company as a whole
Meet with individuals regularly to understand and guide the work they do, the challenges they face, and the opportunities for improvement or redirection; conduct performance reviews, assess compensation, and recommend promotions
Develops and guides team members, clearing paths for the growth and advancement of practitioners within the project management domain
Establishes goals, monitors progress, and seeks opportunities to enable team members to pursue them
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred
7 years of project management experience, Agency preferred
2 years of leading and managing teams
PMP, CSM, Agile-related certification, or equivalent a plus
Knowledge and passion for Project Management platforms – Basecamp, Confluence, Harvest, Jira, and Smartsheet
Proficient knowledge of waterfall and agile methodologies
Ability to lead in a complex and fast-paced organization with flexibility for ambiguity and change to deliver the highest quality outcomes
Success in growing and managing teams within a hybrid organization
Prior experience working with accounts of all sizes, from small business to enterprise level
Effective communication and the ability to influence stakeholders through professionalism, integrity, and presence
Previous experience working on a wide variety of digital projects, including web and mobile applications
Proficiency in problem-solving, recommending approaches and solutions
