Director of Business Development, Technology

AMP Agency is seeking a qualified and motivated tech, UX, consultative sales professional to support and grow our agency’s user experience and technology capabilities. We’ve built a team of innovators and pioneers committed to working together, encouraging one another, and communicating in the spirit of winning and success. The position will report directly to the SVP of business development and will be responsible for driving lead generation and closing new business opportunities that focus on tech & UX.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Taking sales from prospecting to close, both for outbound sales efforts and inbound referrals
  • Unearth new sales opportunities through networking and turn them into long term partnerships
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from finding a client to securing a deal
  • Building solutions for prospective clients based on their unique needs
  • Participating in key customer/partner presentations and maintaining excellent customer relationships throughout the company's targeted major accounts
  • Developing access to the senior leadership of target accounts and partners
  • Furthering relationships with strategic partners
  • Providing feedback to operations and marketing so we can adapt quickly in the market
  • Being an active and vocal member of the sales team internally, ensuring that tech & UX have a major voice in the ongoing development of the company and its offerings
  • Work with the business development and marketing teams to devise a strategy specifically focused on hitting growth goals for AMP’s technology & UX practice
  • Use various prospecting strategies to lead initial outreach to prospects
  • Schedule introductory calls with prospects and pull in necessary internal team members for the calls
  • Qualify all leads - identify the needs and challenges of the prospect, determine budget levels, competitiveness of the RFP, etc to ultimately determine whether the lead is an appropriate fit for the team
  • Partner with the tech/UX team to draft proposals and responses to RFPs including project managing the internal team, owning the client deliverable, working with agency leads on key elements such as pricing, staffing and timelines
  • Partner with AMP’s marketing team to elevate the reputation and presence of our XD team in the market. This includes but is not limited to planning email campaigns, award submissions, garnering relationships with partners

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 2-6 years in a sales function that focused on technology and/or user experience/digital design
  • Knowledge of all or majority aspects of experience design including: websites, mobile apps, data-driven enterprise sites.
  • General knowledge of technology terms and platforms i.e. CMS’s like Wordpress, platforms like Sitecore, technologies and languages like .Net, Javascript, Node.js, opensource, etc.
  • Experience working with Partner Sales organizations to expand channel sales opportunities
  • Excellent phone, writing, and listening skills
  • Knowledge of market research, sales and negotiating principles
  • Consistent record of exceeding sales targets
  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Exceptional ability to learn, adapt, discover and test new ideas
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and fun environment
  • College degree in related field

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with marketing agency operations

The base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $115,000, plus commission structure.

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager manages sales programs and strategic planning initiatives within a specific department of the business to ensure sales targets are met. This role may be dedicated to servicing one significant client or responsible for multiple client’s goals and encompassing customer relations and implementation.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities 

Revenue Budget Achievement

Achieve P&L targets; manage business for each client(s) assigned Implement marketing strategies and analyze trends and results to achieve department/client income and expense budget goals.

Own and drive revenue growth; identify opportunities and align business unit resources to secure those opportunities.

Client Quota Achievement

Meet and/or exceed Clients’ goals for sales, distribution, pricing, shelving, and promotional volume.

Identify and provide services to support the “Customer as Clients” Develop and launch strategies to pursue new opportunities.

Client Key Performance Indicators

Achievement

Manage and maximize manufacturer marketing/promotional funds to achieve sales goals while staying within financial guidelines.

Identify opportunities and close white space within the market.

Implement customer headquarter calls and penetrate key positions at retailer department.

Business Management

Organize business unit team to retain and expand upon all client relationships.

Assist team to navigate in the larger company organization to align needed resources and support to ensure specific client and/or customer initiative success.

Facilitate communication, opportunities, challenges, and workflow to other team members and attend all client meetings and reviews.

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

Driving required on an as needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required) College degree or equivalent job-related experience.

Field of Study/Area of Experience: 

2 – 5 years relative work experience in applicable field.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  •  Proven track record in sales strong sales presentation/development skills.
  • Working knowledge of syndicated data forecasts, sets objectives, anticipates, structures tasks and establishes priorities.
  • Accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks and projects strong sales presentation development skills.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates commitment to meeting or exceeding customer expectations, effectively solicits and responds to the needs of the customer both external and internal.
  • Works cooperatively with others toward common group objectives, demonstrates respect for the ideas and contributions of other team members, cultivates positive relationships with other associates, and provides assistance and support to others.
  • Tools/Software Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Strong understanding and utilization of proper safety techniques and correct use of equipment when appropriate
  • Executes verbal and written business communications, in a manner that effectively achieves business objectives. 

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Office / Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66% each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
