The Kroger Company is currently looking to hire a Senior Advanced Performance Engineering Manager on a full time, permanent basis. This opportunity offers a flexible hybrid remote/onsite work schedule and will be based out of any of the following locations within the United States: Cincinnati, OH (preferred), Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, or Boca Raton, FL.

Title : Senior Advanced Performance Engineering Manager

Location : Hybrid, based out of either Cincinnati, OH (preferred), Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, or Boca Raton, FL

Summary :

Manage and lead the performance engineering team for measuring, analyzing, planning and executing production-like simulations across mobile and web solutions and owns the performance and scalability aspects of customer engagement. Lead the strategic performance engineering direction and function as a liaison across the technology and digital organization. Lead and uphold the associate continuous high-performance process. Demonstrate the company s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage and lead performance engineering efforts ensuring the applications performance is monitored during performance tests or production usage using APM and other monitoring tools to isolate the fault domain.
  • Drive deep into application code and identify root cause of performance issues.
  • Provide technical consulting and leadership, identifying and implementing new Performance Tooling that assist business units in meeting their strategic objectives.
  • Manage relationship with business stakeholders, ensuring high standards and quality of technical solutions, keeping abreast of latest technology development.
  • Establish and maintain performance standard tooling, best practices, and metrics across the technology organization.
  • Drive the measuring and reporting of metrics on solution areas and track performance engineering improvements with Maturity Assessments
  • Manage team to provide innovative processes to expand reach of performance engineering capabilities.
  • Promote and discover new Performance Engineering best practices which ensure successful solutions in production.
  • Establish/support communities of practice that enable solution areas to adopt quality best practices.
  • Change the thinking of and gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations without damaging relationships.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports.
  • Manage offshore team members and drive offshore staffing value.
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree computer science or related information technology field
  • Any experience working in an agile software development and management environment.
  • 5 years performance testing/engineering experience
  • 8 years of experience as a Technology Manager or Performance Engineering Manager with an emphasis on scaling platforms and applications with a strong eye toward the cost to serve.
  • Proven understanding of performance tools such as Neoload, JMeter, LoadRunner. (Neoload preferred) or similar industry tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to all levels of the company.
  • Ability to communicate and partner with engineering and product focused teams.
  • Ability to attract, retain, and grow people to create a self-organized and high empowered team of technical engineers.
  • Proven knowledge of APM products such as Dynatrace, New Relic, AppDynamics. (Dynatrace is preferred) or similar industry tools.

Desired :

  • Master's Degree computer science or related information technology field
  • Quality Engineer experience
