Advanced Drainage Systems is Hiring a Remote National Sales Manager (Ag)

Overview

Headquartered in Hilliard, Ohio, we are a multi-billion dollar stormwater management company, manufacturing pipe and ancillary products. What does that mean? When it storms, we capture rain with our drain basins, convey it with pipe, store it using chambers and finally treat it with our water quality products, before safely returning water back to the environment. We handle, what we call, the entire lifecycle of a raindrop. Our products help prevent flooding, which increases quality of life for people living in large cities, suburbs, and rural towns. We also believe in creating a circular economy and are the second largest plastic recycling company in North America. We use plastic shampoo and detergent bottles to create pipe, diverting over 500 million pounds of plastic from landfills every year. ADS operates a global network of over 60 manufacturing plants and 30 distribution centers.

Responsibilities

The National Sales Manager (Ag) reports directly to the EVP, Market Management and is responsible for leading and developing the Sales Team in the core Midwestern Market (totaling 10 States) and other key expansion areas (e.g., Southeast/Delta). To be successful in this role, you will have to:

  • Build a Strong Sales Team
    • Select, Develop, & Retain high-performing Sales Reps
  • Grow Market Share
  • Improve the ADS Brand
    • Strengthen customer loyalty
  • Increase margins through strategic pricing initiatives
  • Execute growth strategies in our expansion markets
    • Geographic: Coastal, Florida, California
    • Product-based: Grain aeration, PolyFlex
  • Collaborate with across functions at ADS. For example,
  • Drive efficiencies within the Sales Team, Customer Service, and Plants
  • Monitor and ensure proper inventory placement to make sure that the right product is in the right place
  • Develop and design distribution strategies to enhance customer experience through product availability and delivery
  • Align with Customer Service to make sure that the appropriate process is in place to succeed
  • Partner with Operations to conduct root cause analysis and put mitigation plans in place
  • Deploy strategies in our Expansion markets
  • Business Planning and Forecasting
    • Providing the game plan for Operations and Logistics to execute the longer-term strategy

This Sales Team is highly successful because of the strong relationships they have with our customers, consumers, and communities. The ability to get out and walk the fields with a farmer in rural Nebraska is just as important as your ability to consult with and influence senior leaders, whether it be with one of our key customers or executives within ADS and everyone in between.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:

  • 10 of experience in the Agriculture Industry
  • 5 years as a people leader
  • Strong sense of community and
  • Ability to influence without direct oversight of cross-functional teams
  • Balance long-term strategy execution while managing short-term priorities as it relates to the seasonality of the Agriculture Market
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture related field

This role will require approximately 50 %

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree
  • Previous Sales experience
