Position Overview

The Office of Human Resources (HR) at the University of Tennessee at Martin invites applications for the position, Human Resources Consultant - Learning & Development. This position provides a variety of professional support across disciplines within the department primarily, employee learning & development, as well as other disciplines as directed by the department director. Selected candidate must work well independently and in collaboration with others in a fast-paced office environment with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the department director, the HR Consultant will perform the following duties independently, and in consultation with the department director and other colleagues as directed.

Lead and manage all employee learning and development activities including needs assessment, developing training content, partnering with SMEs as needed to develop and facilitate content.

Manage the Learning Management System Kate, scheduling various training opportunities for departments, tracking/inputting annual required employee trainings and ensures that course completion data is captured in K@TE.

Coordinate with managers to handle logistics of training programs-rooms, refreshments, materials and equipment.

Ongoing Needs Assessment - Assess individual and organizational training and career development needs.

Provide support for instructor led training including scheduling programs, reserving and setting up conference rooms, sending invitations, monitoring enrollments, generating rosters, compiling course evaluations, and closing out sessions make recommendations for cost-effective ways to meet such needs that align with the strategy and values of the university.

Oversee and track completion of required learning associated with compliance, such as online harassment prevention training, IT security, and required policy awareness, etc.

Implement creative marketing approaches to publicize available learning and development opportunities to employees.

Responsible for maintaining/updating the Human Resources university webpage.

Lead/assist with special projects as directed by department director.

Serve as the Human Resources representative and/or contact for Minors on Campus.

Serve on committees as directed by department director and appointed by system office.

Respond to unemployment claims.

Complete the process for non-US citizens to become eligible to hire as faculty with the University in collaboration with the department director.

May assist or lead lower level employee relations matters as directed by department director

Perform other duties as assigned by department director.

Qualifications

High School degree and three years of experience in a role that would expose the candidate to performing related activities described herein, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Facilitator experience helpful, especially experience teaching adults.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles helpful.

Ability to work well independently and collaboratively.

Excellent research skills.

Intermediate to Advance Word and Excel skill

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to present information to various individuals and groups including the executive team as requested by department director

Ability to learn and use an enterprise system such as IRIS and Oracle

Must possess a strong customer service orientation, complimented by a deep sense of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
