POSITION TITLE: Education Director, Florida

REPORTS TO: Regional Director

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises the Associate Education Director and contracted, per-diem trainers. 

LOCATION: Boca Raton, FloridaGrade/Class: Grade G, Exempt, PSA eligible

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Direct and oversee all aspects of the regional No Place for Hate®, A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute, and other regional educational priorities and programs. Coordinate, adapt and deliver regional training programs and design educational anti-bias initiatives and programs tailored to the regional communities’ needs. Generate revenue through fee-for-service and fundraising efforts. Staff and facilitate the regional Education Advisory Committee and/or lay leader engagement with educational programs.

Responsibilities

Primary

  • In coordination with Regional Director, develop regional education strategy; track impact throughout the execution of programs and initiatives.
  • Market, coordinate and implement No Place for Hate® and A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute anti-bias programs to regional educational institutions. Develop program proposals based on regional needs within ADL’s pedagogical standards and frameworks; this may involve personally conducting some training sessions and workshops.
  • Assign and supervise the responsibilities allocated to the region’s Associate Director(s) of Education and support their professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues divisionally and nationally to design, implement, or promote anti-bias webinars, programs, and products.
  • Negotiate and generate contracts associated with education programs and events.
  • Coordinate related special events in the region, including program launches, campaigns and conferences.
  • Oversee the regional budget for education programs and grants. Generate fee-for-service revenue and, in collaboration with Development, provide information for grant proposals, conduct solicitations and assist in fundraising to support regional ADL education programs and services.
  • Monitor and evaluate regional education programs and compile, prepare and submit data and reports for the organization.
  • Conduct meetings with and presentations for potential clients.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the client database as per the specification of ADL’s National Education Department and provide reports and testimonials as they request
  • Develop community relationships and network with educators to facilitate effective delivery of education programs. Collaborate on programming with partner agencies.
  • Manage volunteer-led task forces and committees such as the Education Committee of the Board.
  • Represent the regional and national organization at external conferences, seminars and meetings.
  • Provide assistance to regional staff on other education programs.

Secondary

  • Partner with marketing and research to highlight success stories for community outreach and further evaluation.
  • Work with regional staff to respond to discrimination complaints, antisemitic incidents and other civil rights issues that arise in educational settings.
  • Support fundraising events for the region as able.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Experience developing and leading teams to successfully execute upon strategic plans.
  • Strong management skills, including knowing when to lead, collaborate, or mentor.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Comfort with public speaking and recruiting new clients.
  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to differentiate between different education modalities.
  • Experience with educational systems and practices.
  • Understanding of anti-bias and diversity issues.
  • Technical competence required. Working familiarity and comfort in database systems, reporting, and analysis essential. Must be comfortable learning and leveraging new technology.
  • Experience in virtual and hybrid education settings and the use of Canvas as a platform highly desired.
  • Strong project management skill with a demonstrated ability to craft and execute high-impact programs.
  • Comfort in working with colleagues and clients remotely across the country essential. 
  • Bilingual or multilingual language skills a plus. 

Work Experience:

  • Four or more years of progressively responsible experience in community service, education, program management or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education/Training or a related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Additional related college courses, professional training and certifications welcomed.

Work Environment:

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary to represent ADL, conduct training sessions and to attend community events. Some travel within the region is required. In some regions this may represent up to 20% of time.
  • ADL COVID-19 Protocol (updated periodically): ADL is adhering to public health guidance regarding COVID-19. ADL will require that all employees are vaccinated with exceptions for medical and religious accommodations. ADL is requiring proof of vaccination. ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.

Compensation: 

  • This position has a salary range of $65,000 to $92,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Boca Raton, Florida. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
