Overview

POSITION TITLE: Development Coordinator, Los Angeles

REPORTS TO: Development Director, Los Angeles

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA (Western Division)

Grade/Class: Grade C, Exempt, PSA-Eligible

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provide a broad range of administrative and project management support to the Director of Development and Development team.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Manage donor acknowledgement, processing donations and preparation of timely acknowledgement letters.
  • Maintain SalesForce database entries, routinely update and correct database records.
  • Spearhead operational project management for the Development team.
  • Manage stewardship related mailings such as holiday cards, giving reports, appeal letters, etc.
  • Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
  • Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate foundation and individual donors.
  • Handle administrative details associated with development-related volunteer leadership committees.
  • Manage development contracts with vendors, as well as processing invoices.
  • Assist with the preparation of and/or proofread donor-facing materials, including but not limited to letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, presentations and briefings. Provide support for donor meetings and communications, including profiles, briefings and communications prior to and following meetings as directed.
  • Provide administrative support, particularly in a project coordination capacity.
  • Assist the Development team in managing major initiatives, projects and events including large scale and smaller insider briefings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development or his/her designee.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner that fosters teamwork with colleagues.

Secondary:

  • Assist with preparation and execution of fundraising events including maintaining guests lists, preparing materials, strategizing on event-day and other duties as requested.
  • Coordinate event-related registration and fundraising websites as well as online platforms; oversee process of entering all event information into database.
  • Coordinate tribute journal preparation, design and printing/digital, including dignitary letters, solicitation letters and ad solicitation. Track seating and tribute ad requests.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good oral and written presentation skills are needed.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills including the ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task to complete projects on deadline. 
  • Strong computer skills (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), analytical and interpersonal skills. 
  • Will need to know and understand Salesforce and other online platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail. 

Work Experience:

  • At least four years of community fundraising experience or relevant for-profit experience. Event planning experience is a plus.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. 

Work Environment: 

  • ADL COVID-19 Protocol (updated periodically): ADL is adhering to public health guidance regarding COVID-19. ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.

Compensation: 

  • This position has a salary range of $45,000 to $55,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Los Angeles, California. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
