Overview

POSITION TITLE: Associate Director of Development 

REPORTS TO: Director of Development 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None 

LOCATION: Seattle, Washington

Grade/Class: F, Exempt, PSA-Eligible

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Seeking a dynamic, experienced, organized relationship-builder with a passion for ADL's mission to join our growing team. The Associate Director of Development will join a highly collaborative, creative team and focus on creating, planning and executing targeted fundraising strategies to achieve defined regional goals. The Associate Director will work closely with the Regional Director to identify and cultivate donors and implement targeted solicitation efforts designed to increase the donor base and close gifts.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Assist the Regional Director in setting fundraising priorities and meeting financial goals.
  • Work with Regional Director to establish and implement strategies for donor cultivation, stewardship and solicitation, including researching and reaching out to potential and current donors.
  • Plan, organize and execute virtual and in-person fundraising events such as, but not limited to, parlor meetings, galas, donor educational programs, and Board-related meetings and activities.
  • Serve as lead staff on event committee meetings, working closely with event chairs, coordinating event program, honorees and attendees.
  • Prepare internal and external program outlines and related publicity materials.
  • Oversee budget and record keeping for events.
  • Serve as staff lead on Board Development Committee, preparing agendas, working closely with co-chairs, taking notes, and initiating follow up.
  • Maintain prospect and donor records, mailing lists and fund records.
  • Work with Institutional Giving Officer to submit feedback on large grants and draft proposals for smaller scale grants up to $40,000.
  • Cultivate and maintain community relationships and community outreach when appropriate.
  • Develop donor communications, including e-mail invitations, e-mail campaigns, etc.
  • Contribute to regional management by participating in overall regional office administration and operations.

Secondary:

  • Participate in special assignments or projects to assist the Regional Director of Development or as representative at the National level.
  • Participate in development-related functions such as marketing, design/preparation of print materials, event logistics, and post-event follow up based on individual skills and office needs.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Good organizational and administrative skills including the ability to multi-task. 
  • Proven ability to solicit and close gifts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good oral and written presentation skills. 
  • Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software.
  • A great sense of humor, strong work ethic, and desire to join a growing, dynamic team.

Work Experience:

  • Five to seven years of community fundraising experience in a volunteer environment. 
  • Experience in direct solicitation and closing gifts. 
  • Event planning experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.

Work Environment: 

  • ADL COVID-19 Protocol (updated periodically): ADL is adhering to public health guidance regarding COVID-19. ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office. 

Compensation: 

  • This position has a salary range of $60,000 to $80,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Seattle, Washington. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
