Mercy Medical Center - Cedar Rapids is Hiring a Gift Shop Clerk- Mercy Flowers, Gifts & More Near Rapids, IA

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by providing earned income for the support of the Mercy Auxiliary's fundraising efforts, offering mission related merchandise to meet and exceed the needs of Mercy's customers. This is achieved by offering merchandise that is unique to Mercy, in both locations, giving the shops the opportunity to create a warm, unique shopping experience.

Job Duties

Open and close the shop, following shop procedures.
Prepare cash register drawers for the next day
Working knowledge of operating the POS system, charge terminal and payroll deduction reader
Ability to work in either shop, Mercy Flowers & Gifts or Mercy Flowers, Gifts & More
Proper phone etiquette and knowledge of flower phone order procedures, if applicable
Follow procedures for deliveries to patients and hospital staff
Knowledge of shop merchandise, maintain supply levels and upkeep the shop appearance
Maintain a team atmosphere with staff and volunteers
Attend scheduled staff meetings
Complete training on Barista equipment and procedures
Comply with Department of Health rules and regulations
Demonstrate sales accountability
Deliver high level of customer service
Meet and exceed personal and store sales goals

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in Outlook mail and Mercy Medical Center sites
Ability to coordinate varying levels of volunteer help and training
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Ability to provide information in a clear, concise manner

Professional Experience

Previous retail experience prefered

Education

High School Graduate or equivalent preferred

Physical Demand Requirements

Light: Exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently
