Position Description
As a SQL Database Administrator you will play an integral role on the team and must be able to create, update, configure, manage and administer several Microsoft SQL Server environments. You will oversee the implementation, configuration, security, maintenance, and performance of SQL Server RDBMS systems, as well as ensuring the availability and performance of enterprise applications. You will maintain SQL Server database objects and perform database capacity planning, data modeling, data loads, troubleshooting, database backup and recovery and support onsite applications. You will create, edit and execute scripts to process data and perform software updates. You will be relied on to provide IT project management guidance/input and expertise for projects and special projects as needed. You will integrate DBMS(s) and data with existing application software, web sites, portals, storage devices or business applications as well as assisting and testing Disaster Recovery (DR) and Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP).
Position Requirements and Duties
Manage SQL Server from development to mission-critical production systems
Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance to ensure a high level of security and availability
Ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
Independently analyze and correct issues in real time, providing end-to-end resolution
Script automation
Manage database structures by monitoring and adjusting the internal structures (tuning) as required
Define, establish and perform regular database backups
Participate in the planning, designing, creating, installing, customization, upgrades and maintaining of databases to meet defined requirements
Perform upgrades of the database and software to new release levels
Document databases and deployed applications
Implement database security and create associated documentation
Ensure databases are compliant with applicable STIGS
Qualifications
US Citizen
At least 2 years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience
Desired Skills
5 years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience
Experience with MS SQL Server STIG implementation
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Experience with VMware vCenter v6.5 and later
Experience with Microsoft Failover/SQL Server Clusters and AlwaysOn groups
Experience with SQL backup and recovery
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services
Previous Oracle database administration experience is a plus
VMware 6.5 and later experience
Windows system administration experience
Familiarity with DoD standards of security and STIG compliance
Familiarity with HBSS
Familiarity with SharePoint
Familiarity working in a classified space
Experience with Jira and Confluence
Certifications
8570 IAT Level II Certification & DoD 8570 CSSP Infrastructure Support Certification
