Description:
- Under general supervision, performs microscopic evaluation of cellular material from all body sites to determine normal and abnormal cellular changes including but not limited to malignant neoplasms, precancerous lesions, infectious agents and inflammatory processes.
- Possess the technical skills required for FNA assistance and a wide variety of cytological specimen preparations including liquid based preparation.
- Have a basic knowledge of contemporary procedures and technologies.
- Maintains proper records and utilizes independent judgment.
- Performs complex analyses on a variety of sample types.
- Understands theories and principles involved in the performance of all procedures.
- Responsible for quality, efficiency and safety in the performance of laboratory functions.
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems and documents corrective actions.
- Assists with development and resolves problems and documents corrective actions.
- Assists with development and modification of procedures and assumes additional responsibilities when appropriate.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
1 year experience required
ASCP required, Must be certified Cytotechnologist
SurePath experience required
Be able to assist with on-site FNAs
