Overview:
ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. The Electronic Engineering Technician 3 position will provide engineering, design, and field support to the Project Engineering Telecom organization. Work may include fiber optics, analog/mobile radio, digital radio, power line carrier, operational telephone, microwave towers and antennas, emergency AC/DC power and UPS systems, communications buildings, multiplex equipment, and monitoring systems including alarm system, Fault Locating Acquisition Reporter (FLAR), microwave monitor, wide area networks used for operational data, and network management. This position will apply theory and principles of electrical and electronics engineering to the department's functions where assigned, under the guidance of engineering staff. This position will provide engineering technician expertise, assisting project managers and other engineering personnel in implementing projects, supporting field maintenance crews, and other related engineering activities. Additionally, this high-level technician position will provide technical assistance and provide recommendations for solutions when engineering problems are encountered before, during, or after construction. This full-time position is located in Vancouver, WA.
Pay range: $29.05 - $41.50

Responsibilities:
- Develop data files related to the production of electrical drawings, software configurations, and documents within ProjectWise and maintain them through routine reviews for accuracy and relevancy
- Prepare detailed design, material, or procurement specifications for equipment; verify that technical tradeoffs have been considered, recommendations conform to existing policies, and standards are within project budgetary constraints.
- Prepare engineering designs or assist in developing engineering requirements for building, installing, and modifying facilities. Designs are based on analysis of engineering, design requirements, project parameters, and technical information from multiple sources.
- Adapt standard guides and templates to assigned projects.
- Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the scheduled completion of project goals.
- Participate in site visits to the field to support telecommunications project scoping and design, verify existing equipment configuration at sites, and document as-built records during project wrap-up.
- Participate in the development and update of Telecommunication drawing templates and standards.
- Organize and analyze drawings before setup and discuss project complexity and time estimates with technical and supervisory personnel.
- Perform sub-system user file management within CAD systems, such as plotting, printing, storage and retrieving and returning drawings from ProjectWise.
- Update and maintain the As Built file structure within ProjectWise; maneuver .pdf and .dgn files as required.
- Perform checks on CAD and manually drafted drawings and other documents for drafting accuracy and completeness; make necessary corrections before review by engineers and technicians.
- Provide technical review of other technician's work; compare prints to site photos of equipment layouts, waveguide ports, towers and antennas, fiber optic patch panels, wiring of multiplexers, channel banks, radios, AC/DC power, UPS systems, chargers, alarming, operational telephone, powerline carrier devices, etc. Summarize errors in e-mail text for each package submission.
- Draft designs from engineering scope and sketches through use of electronic files, drawing stick files, and the central records vault.
- Review and maintain all changes to CAD templates, presenting them for final approval
- Participate in the development of drafting processes and standards, coordinating within and external to the group.
- Engineering record maintenance which includes keeping switching files updated,
- Obtaining new drawing numbers,
- Inputting drawing information into the organization's CAD database at the various stages of the CAD process,
- Completing necessary forms to submit final drawings to central records.
- Evaluate engineering proposals, shop drawings, and design comments for sound electrical engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria.
- Conduct quality control and assurance program inspections, reporting findings and recommendations.
- Review existing electrical engineering criteria to identify and recommend any necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated material.
- Draw or modify diagrams and write engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria.
- Support the production of 3D drawings for Telecommunications equipment including building, tower, antenna, waveguide, Ice Bridge, propane tanks and fencing.
- Support the development of the 3D knowledge base of peers by attending and/or providing training sessions, answering follow-up questions, and having further one-on-one sessions, if necessary, for the other CFTE CAD technicians in the TENP group.
Requirements:
- A degree in engineering technology, mathematics, computer science (or closely related field) is preferred.
- 10 years of experience is required with an applicable bachelor's degree.
- 12 years of experience is required with an applicable associate degree.
- 14 years of experience is required without a degree or applicable degree.
- Experience should include Expert level proficiency in utilizing Visio and Bentley MicroStation.
- 10 years of expert level proficiency in utilizing CAD Software.
- 10 years of experience analyzing and effectively documenting large volumes of technical data.
- 10 years of experience assembling electrical and electronic systems and prototypes using CAD software according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- 1 year of experience placing 3D creations in a terrain view via Google Maps or similar product.
- Exceptional communication skills, oral and written, with a wide variety of audiences, from the highly technical to the casual user / client.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
