Job Summary:
Description:
The Operations Manager is responsible for efficiently and profitably manage the various service activities in various states. He/she works with management to improve operations, sales, profit and people development in order to attain customer satisfaction.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide direction, training, support, supervision, and motivation to operation supervisors including their downline reports.
- Ensure timely production reports and accurate record information to operating activities for such purposes as control, planning, accounting and required customer reports.
- Keep track of staffing requirements and hire new talent as needed to correspond with specific duties and skill sets.
- Ensure that approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied to each operating unit.
- Supervise and review the preparation of forecast numbers for each of his/her departments.
- Review performance and causes of significant variances, along with corrective action plans.
- Ensure monthly operation reports listing any unusual events – major expenditures, legal actions, overtime payments, etc. are distributed to appropriate department(s)/personnel.
- Conduct performance and wage reviews for department supervision
- Professionally represent the company to clients and their customers

- Strong budget development and oversight skills
- Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of operations and customer service.
- Highly trained in conflict management and business negotiation processes
- Knowledge of operations, safety process, programs, and procedures
- Ability to create a safe work environment
- Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive controversial issues
- Possession of key competencies, including conflict management, organization, and decision-making
- Strong analytical and financial analysis skills
- Ability to teach, coach and train operation supervisors to drive change and execute process improvements across offices
- Presentation Skills
- Multi-State experience desirable
- Minimum:
- 3 Years proven experience in an operations management position / Supervisory role
- 1 Year proven experience in a management role directly related to smart meter deployment
- Excellent ability to provide training and oversee the deployment of polyphase and transformer rated electric meters as well as water and gas metering hands on skills
- Ability to manage multiple work order management systems for multiple smart meter deployment contracts simultaneously
- Strong budget development and oversight skills
- Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of operations and customer service.
- Highly trained in conflict management and business negotiation processes
- Knowledge of general business software and aptitude for learning new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Working Conditions:
- Occasional: sitting, standing, bending [waist], squatting
- Lifting and carrying –never: 26-100 lbs.
- Carrying – frequent: 0-10 lbs.; occasional: 0-25 lbs.; never: 26-100 lbs.
- Heaviest item carried: Handheld computer weighing 2.5 lbs. and/or maps with a clip board. Distance to be carried: Items are carried the entire time employees are walking in the field
