Acrisure LLC is Hiring an Underwriting Manager (GTU) Near Brentwood, TN

GTU is a Certified Managing General Agency specializing in underwriting commercial auto coverage for truckers and truck brokers throughout the country. We’ve been helping retail agents and specialty insurers since 1981.

We write many types of trucking risks for individual owner-operators, small fleets, mid-sized fleets, and large fleets in most states. With markets to cover conventional needs we also represent specialty writers with unique products such as comprehensive coverages for truck brokers and freight forwarders.

GTU is an Acrisure agency partner with a current team of 23 employees. We are growing and seek to fill two positions.

To determine insurability, rates, prices, quotes and recommend coverages for risks specific to the transportation industry under the guidance of the lead underwriter, to establish relationships with producers and insurance companies, and to follow all procedures and guidelines established by both the insurance company and GTU.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reviews application for coverage, MVRs, financial statements, loss runs, equipment, FMCSA data, safety program, contracts/agreements, reports from loss control consultants and other related material.
  • Evaluates new and renewal policy applications and related documents to classify and assess risks to determine acceptability and appropriate pricing.
  • Forwards renewal solicitations, screen renewal applications, and perform preliminary rating and quoting under the direction of the lead underwriter.
  • Provides timely responses and communicates underwriting decisions or other time sensitive information to agents.
  • Maintains the integrity of the underwriting file on new and renewal business through the completion of underwriting worksheets, documentation of correspondence, and other key information according to internal and carrier guidelines.
  • Cultivates relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate the underwriting process, promote business development, and remain abreast of industry trends.
  • Serves as a resource to other departmental staff with regards to underwriting procedures and guidelines.
  • Provides backup or additional assistance to other underwriters during times of high volume or absences.
  • Handles key servicing aspects of an account including binder and policy generation, endorsements, and audits.
  • Assists with the account file preparation and underwriting responses of insurance company audits.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of, and support, GTU mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operation instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Provides general administrative support for various company projects as may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Work, Outlook, and Excel skills.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, & KNOWLEDGE

  • 4 Year Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in property and casualty underwriting including certifications or designations.
  • Tennessee Property and Casualty Insurance License required within first year of employment.
  • Prior experience in policy service or underwriting preferred.
  • Prior experience in an agency management system encouraged.
