Our work depends on a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) joining our team to support the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) activities in Columbia, MD. At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As a SRE supporting CMS, the candidate will be trusted to work on the development, analysis and use of monitoring tools and data visualization from multiple sources to proactively ensure the day-to-day Enterprise Portal infrastructure health in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment and on physical data centers. In this role, a typical day will include:

• Supporting Portal 24/7 operations, and providing on-call support as needed
• Troubleshooting anomalies as part of Portal system reliability
• Integrating new data sources to enhance the Portal infrastructure monitoring tool
• Supporting the development of new visual aids and enhancing existing visual aids to improve early detection of infrastructure anomalies
• Improving the performance of existing and new monitoring tools
• Supporting the troubleshooting activities to identify the root cause of infrastructure anomalies in a timely manner
• Ensuring the system’s high availability
• Maintaining required Service Level Agreements (SLA)

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, related field or equivalent experience.
• 4 years of experience supporting a 24x7 Internet-oriented production environment, preferably across multiple data centers, involving at least hundreds of servers
• Proficiency in scripting with Python, Perl, or shell
• Thorough understanding of fundamental internet protocols such as DNS, HTTP, and TCP
• Proven experience in various website/infrastructure monitoring tools, such as Chartbeat, ExtraHop, NewRelic, Dynatrace and Splunk
• Familiarity with common open-source infrastructure tools
• Experience with common networking equipment (Cisco, Juniper, F5, etc.)
• Strong understanding of networking protocols
• Experience in fast paced Agile environments using Scrum/Kanban
• Experience in DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD)
• Candidate must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance and must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• US citizen or a Green Card holder
• AWS experience using AWS FedRamp
• AWS System Administration certification(s)
• SAFe certification(s)
• CMS or Health Care Industry experience
• Experience utilizing Scrum/Kanban methodologies
• Experience using JIRA
• Proven oral and written skills to communicate with external and internal stakeholders effectively
