Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
· Ensure all lab equipment is kept free of dust, grease, and oil buildup and maintained in good condition and stored appropriately.
· Verify incoming jobs for completeness and traceability and that test specimens match tag descriptions
· Ensure all shelf-life items are dated prior to expiration dates and communicate with lead if not
· Assist with the interpretation or evaluation of test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures
· Ensure all equipment is calibrated and operable prior to mechanical testing
· Assist with evaluating compliance with standards — using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with standards, procedures, or work instructions.
· Inspect dies, fixtures, and test specimens — inspecting to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
· Make decisions and solve problems through analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
Professional Skills:
· HS diploma or equivalent
· 2-4 years of related experience working in a face paced environment
· Intermediate knowledge of various mechanical testing methods including but not limited to axial tensile, fatigue, machine tensile, stress durability, recess torque and double shear testing
· Experience with titanium, stainless steel and other super alloys typical in aerospace highly desired
· Experience in forging environment preferred Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and production facilities
· Skilled in operating or controlling operations of equipment or systems, including mechanical testing equipment and machinery
· Skilled in intermediate quality control analysis (conducting tests and inspections of products and materials to ensure precision and conformance)
· Critical thinking skills (using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems)
Physical Requirements and Working Condition:
· Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods of time, climb steps, and ladders
· Must be able to work at heights utilizing fall protection equipment (man lifts, ladders, and stand)
· Must be able to lift up to 45lbs
· Subject to environmental conditions -protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
· Subject to hazards to include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
· Subject to loud constant noise
· Subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
