Academics Plus Charter Schools, Inc. (APCSI) is seeking an innovative and qualified School Nurse (RN) to join our team for the 2022-2023 school year starting on 1/3/23.

POSITION TITLE: School Nurse

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid RN licensed to practice nursing in Arkansas form the State Board of Nurse Examiners

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOALS: Assist in development and implementation of a comprehensive program of health services for the school. Responsible for providing direct health services to students. Promote health and education and preventive health practices for students. Serve as health advocate for students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain professional behavior, appearance and work ethic to represent Academics Plus Charter School in a positive manner at all times.
• Participate in the development and implementation of a complete and functioning program to provide ongoing emergency health care.
• Develop and enforce procedures for the administration, safety and security of medications, first aid or health supplies and equipment.
• Participate in the implementation of health education curriculum.
• Coordinate health service activities with the instructional program.
• Plan and implement health assessment and screening programs.
• Assist in the control of communicable diseases by interpreting the policies and procedures for control of communicable disease within the school.
• Coordinate referral to health care professionals for medical diagnostic services and treatment as needed.
• Implement and comply with policies established by federal and state law, Arkansas Dept. of Education and APCS policy in the area of health services.
• Consult with staff on student health problems and provide assistance with individual cases as needed.
• Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents required.
• Ensure ADE, state and feral health regulations are completed in a timely manner. Including but not limited to: BMI, scoliosis screenings, hearing screenings, vision screenings and ensure documentation in eschool.
• Effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents.
• Assess and respond to needs related to job responsibilities.
• Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of health program and implement changes based on findings.
• Provide relevant counseling and guidance to students and parents so they may assume responsibility for maintenance of student health.
• Help families use community resources for health-related needs.
• Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible.
• Maintain health provider CPR.
• Maintain nursing license as required by state law.
• Develop and implement individual student health plans.
• Communicate positively with students, parents, visitors and staff.
• Effectively and positively communicate orally and in writing
• Maintain a positive attitude and represent the school in a positive manner at all times
• Responsible for documentation for Workman’s Compensation claims and communicates with Human Resources for all documentation related to workman’s compensation claims.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
