Responsibilities

Regional Dietitian

We are seeking a candidate for the role of Regional Dietitian. They will provide regional support to food service operations throughout assigned region. They will plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Dietary Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility. They will also assure quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and that the dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Conduct site visits to facilities as assigned to provide support and oversight to all Food Service Department operations and submits site visit reports following visits
  • Conduct sanitation, dining program, and kitchen safety audits and educate Food Service Director and/or staff on any related deficiencies
  • Assists as needed in the absence of a Food Service Director as assigned
  • Ensures implementation of corporate menus and appropriate preparation of menu items using standardized recipes in compliance with regulations and therapeutic diet orders
  • Participate in surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies
  • Assists in the interviewing, selection, and orientation of dietary personnel
  • Counsels, disciplines, and trains dietary personnel as necessary
  • Determines departmental staffing requirements necessary to meet the Dietary Department’s needs and oversees staff schedule within budgetary constraints
  • Maintains food cost within range designated by the budget
  • Ensures that there are adequate food and supplies for resident meals
  • Performs associate, resident, and community education as needed, desired
  • Review care of residents for the purpose of determining nutritional needs, appropriate plan of care, and minimizing nutritional complications
  • Maintain timely resident charting per regulations
  • Interacts with other departments to ensure safe and superior food service and delivery and nutritional care of residents

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian with an unencumbered, current license to practice in the state of assigned facility.
  • Must meet any state and/or federal requirements of the position.
  • Maintains required & appropriate certifications.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to facility residents, families and government regulators, and to work cooperatively with other employees at all levels.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work on-site in numerous facilities
  • Must meet all local health regulations. This requirement also includes criminal background, investigation, and reference inquiry.
  • Must exhibit effective language, skills, and ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
