As ABC's Lawn & Tree Division General Manager, you will be responsible for supervising all areas of operation, managing staff, fostering a positive environment, and ensuring customer satisfaction and proper branch operation. The Lawn & Tree Division General Manager will have a hands-on approach and will be committed to the expansion and success of the business by implementing strategies that increase productivity and achieve sales targets.
Reports to the Vice President/CFO.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, implements, and executes a strategic business plan for the division including achievement of assigned metrics such as those related to financial forecasts and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborates and communicates at all levels of the organization to meet corporate and division goals.
- Work closely with the Executive Team to implement vision and goals of the division.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, new technologies, and market conditions relevant to the division and industry.
- Identify current and prospective sales opportunities.
- Meet goals and metrics set in collaboration with ABC Corporate.
- Adhere to high ethical standards and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and company policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
- Assists in the interviewing, hiring, and training of new employees.
- Bring out the best of the department’s personnel by providing training, coaching, development, and motivation.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Locate areas of improvement and propose corrective actions when necessary.
- Address customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly.
- Network to improve the presence and reputation of the department and the company.
- Stay abreast of competing markets and provide reports on local market trends/changes.
- Briefing employees on all relevant information from the Executive Team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.
- At least ten years of industry experience preferred.
- Previous experience in Lawn Maintenance, Landscaping, Irrigation, Lawn Care and Tree preferred.
- Experience in a leading position and demonstrated ability in motivating groups is preferred.
- * ISA Certified Arborist preferred, or eligible to obtain certification within 1-year of hire date.
- Licensed irrigator preferred, or eligible to obtain license within 1-year of hire date.
- TDA licensed Pesticide Commercial/Non-Commercial Applicator preferred, or eligible to obtain license within 1-year of hire date.
- Must be familiar with the safe & proper use of equipment used in the Tree Division.
- Must be able to communicate with members at all levels of the organization and customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present comprehensive reports.
- Ability to forecast work seasons and personnel needs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Based in Austin, but will be required to travel to other branch offices (San Antonio, College Station & Corpus Christi)
Occasional (1-2x/Month) visits to the branches is to be expected.
