Description

eCommerce Product and Merchandising Manager represents Product Development & Product Merchandising as a key member of Abbyson’s Management Team. The Product and Merchandising Manager works closely with all members from the Sales, Marketing, Sourcing & Manufacturing team, under the guidance of Executive Leadership.

The Product and Merchandising Manager shall collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute omni-channel merchandising and brand positioning strategies for Abbyson. The Product and Merchandising Manager shall refine the product vision, product roadmap, build product requirements documents with detailed functional requirements, and be a subject matter expert in all facets of merchandising.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead Merchandising and defining brand aesthetic and product strategies to position the company for growth and profitability
  • Increase brand sales and market share, meet and exceed net profit goals through the effective sourcing of affordable, brand appropriate material and finished goods suppliers. Establish control-related standards and procedures
  • Support and drive the development process encompassing sample management, design aesthetic, quality, margin requirement, and time lines
  • Introduced new and innovative product categories and collaboration opportunities to grow business including partnerships opportunities
  • Strategize to Improve Productivity, Merchandising, Quality, and Efficiency of Operations
  • Oversee production process of all new product roll outs and follow timeline for product releases
  • Work closely with Executive Leadership to generate seasonal ideas for campaigns and brand initiatives
  • Operate with working knowledge of the development process and maintain the Product Development Timeline
  • Support the review of prototypes to meet deadlines with a focus on product execution, consistency of details, and target margin
  • Send development packages to overseas for sampling and design concepts
  • Contributing to the Digital Product Roadmap and translating the product vision and strategy into short term and long-term goals
  • Identify potential risk to upper management and implementation resolutions
  • Cross-Functional Communication and Collaboration
  • Drive Traffic and Conversion to Achieve Sales Goals
  • Develop Brand Awareness and User-Experience Strategy
  • Drive and enhance new SKU creation, images and existing SKU updates.
  • Merchandising for various lines of business, including but not limited to, Ecommerce B2B, Ecommerce B2C, and Direct Import products.
  • Manage and Forecast Online Content
  • Create Promotions to Increase Product Visibility 

Essential Functions

  • Establish a Merchandising and Product Development Plan and Strategy
  • Own product development from inception to completion, including designs, trends, and the complete sample process
  • Own product requirement definition and documentation that define product enhancements and development initiatives
  • Conduct research on various aspects of the business to provide in-depth analysis on various products, projects, and business opportunities
  • Identify and execute total cost reduction opportunities
  • Lead and support cross function project teams as required to meet or exceed expectation on target costs and timeline
  • Recommend and implement best practice for areas of responsibility
  • Continually provide insight into industry best practices, design trends, and content generation ideas
  • Works with other functions to support new product launches, line extensions, and execution of continuous improvement programs for indirect goods and services in scope for the role
  • Build target cost matrix and establish budget parameters based on planned wholesale and retail costs.
  • Create and update cost sheets at each stage of merchandising and new product development
  • Partner with Manufacturing Team to oversee Manufacturing Productivity and Efficiency. Partner with Sales Team to ensure financial goals are met and exceeded
  • Oversee Merchandising Team and ensure SKU addition metrics continue to improve while also managing requests to update existing SKUs and images.
  • Optimize monthly merchandising plans including category page presentation, taxonomy & site navigation, content development and acquisition.
  • Develops, communicates and drives merchandising strategies for new and emerging categories in order to exceed financial goals and customer expectations.
  • Develops an assortment strategy and position along with a pricing strategy that supports the financial objectives of the company and delivers a competitive edge.
  • Maintain, update and utilize database / content management system for product copy, images, pricing, promotions, and other attributes.
  • Manage content vendors effectively to develop highly effective, original, SEO enhanced, and targeted product descriptions, features and benefits.
  • Increase conversion through Content Enhancements (romance copy, images, videos, titles, and product descriptions).
  • Manage new product builds from the start to the creation of the SKU in CRM platform.
  • Create and manage customer relationships and user-experience strategies.
  • Implement and maintain SEO friendly digital content standards.
  • Works closely with Vice President of Sales to execute strategies in all Showrooms
