ABA Insight LLC is Hiring a Speech and Language Pathologist Near Ann Arbor, MI

Description

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION: 

The SLP will be primarily responsible for the speech and language evaluation and treatment of children ages 2-18 with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The SLP will also be responsible for providing consultation regarding speech and language programing for all center-based clients. 

Essential components of this position are listed below but subject to change at the discretion of ABA INSIGHT. This job description describes essential job functions but does not provide and exhaustive list of duties that may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Evaluate and determine diagnostic impression with a range of diagnostic tests, as appropriate, for receptive language, expressive language, articulation and phonology, fluency and voice as well as through interviews, clinical observation and informal methods
  • Develop speech and language goals/objectives for each individual through person-centered planning
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions to assist with communication dysfunctions identified within treatment plan
  • Analyze/interpret progress and adjust treatment goals/objectives and/or therapeutic approach as appropriate
  • Identify appropriate Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) programs and/or devices
  • Complete daily treatment notes on client progress and timely submission of progress reports to funding sources and family
  • Adhere to ASHA, HIPAA and other accrediting organization standards regarding service provision with clients

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Frequent oversight and support meetings with clinical team, including Area Manager and Clinical Director
  • Periodic observation of individual clients in the ABA setting
  • Consultation on development of speech and language programing with clinical team, including behavior technicians
  • Provide staff trainings about language development, different intervention strategies, and other appropriate topics
  • Coordinate/collaborate with client educational team

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Functional knowledge and understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Effective time management; demonstrates the ability to manage client needs and general clinical expectations and operational demands with consistency, reliability and punctuality
  • Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication 
  • Experience across a variety of age ranges and abilities
  • Demonstrates effective, professional oral and written communication with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Sufficient organizational skills to meet required deadlines
  • Supervisory skills that establish meaningful professional relationships with staff 
  • An understanding and collaborative attitude aligned with and supportive of the company’s mission
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a state-wide criminal and Recipient Rights background checks 
  • Meet discipline-specific continuing education requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting and standing) for extended periods of time
  • Must be willing to work in various environments to perform therapy such as home, center and community settings
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required
  • Must have access to email and phone contact

PREFERRED/EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology 
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology
  • Licensed with good standing in the State of Michigan
  • Preferred candidates will have at least one (1) year experience completing comprehensive speech assessments and with two (2) years’ experience serving individuals with lifelong disabilities in some capacity
