Oversees the daily activities of the exempt general accounting staff that provide timely and accurate financial information for both Finance and business line management across the club. Provides guidance to team on preparation of financial reports, variance analysis (actual versus plan), and identification of trends. Provides technical accounting support and professional mentoring to the department’s Senior and Staff Accountants; prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with the company’s accounting policies and procedures; assists the Sr. Management of Finance with the preparation of ad hoc reporting for executive management. Provides support for compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. Aids in performing technical accounting research in connection with the relevant accounting areas and making recommendations for improving Club reporting processes and decision making. Supports timelines to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual workpapers.
Provides direct leadership to the team, ensuring proper staffing and training levels of all team members with a focus on development and building accounting and business knowledge while complying with appropriate professional standards, laws, regulations and operating within the Club’s mission, leadership values and the members’ interest. Responsible for the performance management of the team including annual evaluations, performance counseling, etc.
Work closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to integrate all aspects of the the financial results for input to the required business lines and geographies supported; maintaining knowledge and awareness of new developments in the function, potential applications to further Club initiatives and makes recommendations regarding the use of internal vs. external services, reporting on such activities and proposals and managing ongoing vendor relationships.
Generates and analyzes monthly financial statements for distribution to Finance management; compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts; ensures timely and accurate completion of all required standard journal entries to facilitate monthly closing; tracks monthly accruals to ensure accuracy of financial reporting; participates in year-end closing process.
Assists in providing executive management with financial reports; provide written analysis of large variances; identifies trends and works to resolve discrepancies; interprets numbers and may prepare ad hoc reports as requested.
Provide support to the FP&A department in maintaining the their budgeting & forecasting system which provides control of expenditures for activities across all business lines; identifies variances from budget and informs senior management; anticipates business lines needs and distributes pertinent decision-making information.
Works with internal customers to resolve accounting discrepancies, adhering to AAA Five Diamond Service Standards.
Researches technical accounting issues and monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and internal policies; identifies opportunities for procedural enhancement; submits detailed recommendations regarding improvements of or enhancements to Club accounting systems and practices; alerts management when policies or procedures may inadvertently create opportunity for fraud.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging financial reporting practices and accounting standards.

Education/Licenses/ Certifications: Bachelors degree required; concentration in Finance/Accounting CPA strongly preferred Experience: 6 years of accounting experience 3 years experience of preparing financial statements 3 years experience developing and implementing internal procedures and controls 1 years direct leadership experience Skills & Abilities Advanced familiarity with the Microsoft Office platform of products required, particularly Excel. Excellent mathematical skills, analytical skills and reasoning ability required, with the ability to analyze procedures and make recommendations for enhancement. Ability to learn new financial systems and make recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures. Ability to develop various models to analyze the cost / benefit of entering into a new business venture. Drive and persistence to handle technical accounting issues in a fast-paced / deadline oriented environment. Strong organization and analytical skills required. Must have the ability to work independently, taking initiative to solve problems and identify procedural enhancements as appropriate. Ability to work closely with all levels of Finance staff to achieve department goals. Ability to operate a computer/mobile device with relevant software applications.
