Position will support cross-functional areas, multiple lines of business and departments. This role can be filled at an alternate level based on the experience and qualifications of the selected individual. As a Trainer, you'll conduct basic training and educational programs for associate development, on-the job training and associate onboarding. You'll assist in developing materials for classroom delivery or recommending changes in assigned courses. Job Description Key Responsibilities: Schedules courses and enrolls associates. Serves as a back-up or co-facilitator to other instructors. Uses existing evaluation tools to assess and report training results. Communicates improvements for future training sessions and adjusts content in process to meet the needs of the class. Maintains, revises and enhances current training programs as directed. May assist in designing basic level training classes. Crafts appropriate learning experience by selecting class materials from established programs or modules and training aids. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationship: Reports to Manager or Supervisor; no direct reports. Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Undergraduate degree desired. License/Certification/Designation: Progress toward certification in appropriate business unit technical course work (CPCU, AIC, API, AU, etc.) desired. In some business units there may be additional regulatory requirements for specific certifications (i.e., FINRA series in Nationwide Financial). Associates must acquire all required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails to acquire required licenses/registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position. Experience: Typically requires two or more years of related experience in a technical functional role. Related training/learning experience desirable. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Subject matter knowledge related to training area of responsibility. Knowledge of adult education concepts and learning styles. Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of associates. Ability to prioritize work and make decisions. Must be able to demonstrate adaptability, flexibility and successful time management skills. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner. Values: Regularly and consistently demonstrates the Nationwide Values.
