A Place Called Home is a dynamic, non-profit youth and community center in South Central Los Angeles. APCH provides educational programs, counseling, mentoring, music, dance and art classes, fitness and health and wellness opportunities. As youth participate in our programs, they discover interests and talents and develop a better sense of themselves and their place in the world around them. The goal for the individual in this role is to support, guide and/or increase the likelihood that youth will stay in school, pursue higher education, attain viable jobs, and become active community members capable of making positive change in the world in which they live.

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Counseling, the Behavior Interventionist develops, implements and supervises behavioral policies and procedures for youth (ages 8 21) participating in the various programs. This individual works independently and is responsible for the daily intervention and follow-through with members, including behavior modification programs when necessary. In addition they are responsible for the training of all program staff and ensuring agency guidelines for behavioral procedures are enforced by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Direct interventions one-on-one or in small groups
Review and assess IEP reports for all members annually
Support APCH program staff with behavior management strategies
Develop and implement protocols for the inclusion of REACH (Respect, Empathy, Accountability, Courage, Hope) pillars in year-round programming/curriculum
Create and maintain behavior records and logs as necessary for individualized programs
Facilitate ongoing staff training in behavior modification/management and mandated reporting
Develop reporting protocols and related forms to ensure proper documentation of occurrences of inappropriate and appropriate behavior
Track behavioral trends within the center; maintain documentation and share data with Evaluation and Outcomes Manager
Develop individual behavior plans as needed (in cases of extreme or consistent inappropriate behavior)
Refer members to appropriate resources as needed (i.e. counseling, special needs, etc.)
Implement and evaluate behavioral plans (groups, individuals)
Observe and interact with youth and staff in all programs
Maintain ongoing communication with parents on IPPs and any behavioral incidents
Develop and implement behavioral modification/management plan which includes incentive system
Oversee incentive store and bank (or other incentive system)
Inventory incentives and order supplies/incentives as necessary
Train Youth Leadership and APCH teens within existing programs
Other Responsibilities
Create and submit paperwork and monthly reports in a timely fashion
Attend all required meetings (Staff, Supervisor, etc.)
Support other team members in carrying out center protocols, rules, and policies
Administrative duties as assigned (including filing, writing case studies, tracking behavior patterns, maintaining case notes)
Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal APCH Behavior Interventionist is someone who has a love for helping others and will be an individual who carries high personal and professional standards and enjoys partnering with others to achieve successful outcomes. Technical and Performance Skills
Education/Training/Experience
Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology or Social Work preferred, or equivalent experience
2 years experience in educational setting
2 years experience in youth development setting working with youth (8 21) required
Experience or knowledge of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) preferred but not required

APCH COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
All new hires must provide proof of their first dose of the vaccine on the first day of employment, if not fully vaccinated, and will have 30 days from their date of hire to complete their COVID-19 vaccination and submit proof of completion to the organizations HR department. All fully vaccinated staff must also provide proof of their booster vaccine once eligible.
