A New Well Home Healthcare is Hiring a CNA Near Atlanta, GA

(CNA) Certified Nursing Assistant’s main role is to provide basic care to patients, as well as assist them in daily activities they might have trouble with on their own, such as bathing. Because of the personal nature of the job, a certified nursing assistant job description must include people skills and the ability to be compassionate and enjoy helping others. In nursing or long-term care facilities, a CNA is often a patient’s main caregiver. CNA report to either registered nurses or licensed practical or licensed vocational nurses.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Have phenomenal communication skills since it’s their job to bring all patient concerns and issues to their supervisor.
  • Have current CPR and Basic First Aid Certification;
  • Have the experience, training, education or skills necessary to meet the participant’s needs for Community Access services as demonstrated:
  • CNA certification; and copy of high school diploma/transcript or General Education Development (GED) diploma; and at least six (6) months of experience providing behavioral health related services to individuals with developmental disabilities, or documented experience providing specific supports to individuals with disabilities.
  • Completion of the NLN exam on-line and assessment of competency for services to be performed, or completion of a provided 40-hour training curriculum and assessment of competency.
  • Have evidence of an annual health examination with signed statement from a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant that the person is free of communicable disease;
  • Must have an annual Negative test results for TB Skin Test.
  • Agree to or provide required documentation of a criminal records check, prior to providing Community Living Support services
  • Be legally licensed in the State of MICHIGAN with the class of license appropriate to the vehicle operated if transporting participants as follows:
  • Have a valid, Class C license as defined by the MICHIGAN Department of Driver Services for any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating not in excess of 26,000 pounds.
  • Have no more than two chargeable accidents, moving violations, or any DUI in a three (3) year period within the last five (5) years of the seven (7) year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) period if transporting participants.
  • Agree to or provide required documentation of a criminal records check (NCIC), prior to providing Community Access services.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

  • CNA Certification

  • Ability to understand and relate to persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to learn to identify symptoms associated with mental health diagnosis and to learn to apply interventions when symptoms occur.

  • Ability to observe and assess the needs of individuals.
  • Ability to maintain professional and respectful interaction with individual and co-workers.

  • Ability to facilitate groups and/ provide individual skill instruction.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Takes care of patients’ personal hygiene by assisting with or giving bed baths, baths, or showers; toileting by offering bedpans and walking patients to the toilet; providing back-rubs and skin care; and keeping patients clean at all times.
  • Follows nurse instructions to perform procedures, including but not limited to administering enemas; applying non-sterile dressings, ice packs, and heat treatments; therapeutic baths; and applying restraints on the order of a physician.
  • Assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) by serving meals and feeding patients as needed; offering fresh water and snacks; helping patients ambulate; and turning, positioning, and transferring patients.
  • Serve meals and help patients eat
  • Take vital signs
  • Turn or re-positioning patients who are bedridden
  • Collect information about conditions and treatment plans from caregivers, nurses and doctors
  • Provide and empty bedpans
  • Lift patients into beds, wheelchairs, exam tables, etc.
  • Answer patient calls
  • Examine patients for bruises, blood in urine or other injuries/wounds
  • Clean and sanitize patient areas
  • Change bed sheets and restock rooms with necessary supplies
  • Provides direct assistance in self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills training, retention and improvement to individual participants and groups of participants;
  • Provides direct assistance to the participant in self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills training, retention and improvement;
  • Provides personal care and protective oversight and supervision;
  • Implements the behavioral support plans of participants to reduce inappropriate and/or maladaptive behaviors and to acquire alternative adaptive skills and behaviors;
  • Provides assistance and training on independent community living skills, such as personal hygiene, light housework, laundry, meal preparation, transportation, grocery shopping, using the telephone, and medication and money management.
