A-MAX Auto Insurance is looking for a Data Strategy Manager to join our growing Strategy and Data Lab teams at our corporate office located in Dallas. This is a brand-new position to oversee our Data Lab department and build a multi-year strategy for Data Architecture, built on both cloud and on premises data platforms supporting a high-growth company. This position will work with our IT and Business Leaders to establish a team and deliver on the Cloud Data Warehouse and Analytics roadmap.
Data Strategy Manager will lead transformational projects that require an understanding of the insurance and analytics industries, while embracing innovative ideas and concepts to keep the team on the forefront of Cloud Transformation.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader that can delegate, manage projects, and work in a matrix organization.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the Corporate data management strategy, cloud portfolio, & roadmap as well as holding teams accountable for implementation
• Establish best practice methods to plan, track and measure progress against data management objectives
• Define and document the cloud data & analytics tools, processes, metrics, and procedures to support best practices and emerging technologies/trends in the insurance tech space, including cloud native data and analytics tools.
• Build data driven solutions to help solve business challenges and develop tools/processes to ensure use of appropriate reporting for key business metrics
• Build a data driven culture, in part by promoting ready-to-use reporting and self-service data and analytics for team members and business partners
• Lead ongoing communication and awareness of analytics teams impacts throughout organization

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, MBA degree preferred
• 5 to 7 years of experience focusing on strategy, planning, and business analysis (preference for experience over advanced education)
• Experience managing a team of employees in the US
• Experience in AWS cloud data, database, data warehouse, data architecture, and analytics platforms
• Experience in Insurance Industry strongly preferred
• Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and complex logistics
• Experience influencing organizational changes across an organization
• Experience with communicating and interacting effectively to senior-level executives and stakeholders of various disciplines
• Experience analyzing data from 3^rd party providers
• Experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building, and implementing models, using/creating algorithms, and creating/running simulations
• Experienced with statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.)
• Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
• Experience using web services: Redshift, S3, Spark, DigitalOcean, etc.
• Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
• Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL, etc.
