The Viera Company and A. Duda & Sons are looking for a staff accountant to join our team in our Viera office. This person will provide meaningful, accurate, and timely financial information for the Commercial Property Group, The Viera Company, Duran Golf Club, LLC, and Addison Village Club, LLC through reviewing business transactions and accounts payable activity, preparing journal entries, and maintaining ledger accounts for these assigned entities.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting, excellent attention to detail and deep knowledge of regional laws/regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly financial close activities, and analyze month-end balance sheet and income statement accounts to communicate financial results and significant variances to management. Monthly close activities include preparing or reviewing standard accruals, general ledger account analysis, and account reconciliations for the assigned entities.
• Perform year-end functions to substantiate account balances to management and external auditors. This includes preparing accounting/financial documents and related support for the annual audit, ensuring compliance with all applicable reporting standards and deadlines for the assigned entities, and providing timely responses to auditor inquiries.
• Generate commercial property deposit and interest payment journal entries; review and update associated balance sheet account analyses; record and reclassify possible general ledger miscoding for assigned entities. Prepare journal entries to record rents and accrue expenses and process real estate taxes/CAM expenses for commercial properties.
• Preparing journal entries, reviewing purchase orders/accounts payable activity, assisting in preparing budgets and forecasts, reviewing credit card, gift card, and cash transactions, reviewing inventory matters, and maintaining entity account analysis for the golf course and country club.
• Review residential lot sales transactions, including sales agreements and closing documents, and prepare journal entries to correctly record this activity.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Strong math skills
• Deep knowledge of accounting principles
• Excellent written and verbal communications
• Ability to handle information confidentially 
• Familiarity with accounting software preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel
• Proven experience meeting regular deadlines
