Our Hotwire opaque supply team is looking for a Program Manager, who can demonstrate their deep technical knowledge, loves solving real-world business problems and dedication to innovative thinking to ensure Expedia’s programs align well with leadership’s plans and aggressive timelines. You will work across the Product and Technical organizations, cross-functional teams and be a part of reshaping how our customers leverage our features from beginning to end. This person will be accountable for driving the delivery of business solutions that improve business processes, surface measurable insights, and support executive decision-making along with a strong desire to grow as a thought leader in Expedia's next generation technology stack. We are looking for someone who has a track record of finding innovative ways to prove out hypotheses and provide paths to iterative improvements concentrating on delivering value along the way. Cross team collaboration is an essential part of this role with the need to influence the roadmap of other teams with compelling projects to drive company critical metrics. Candidate should drive continuous process improvement and collaborate effectively with cross-functional business and software development teams to solve problems and implement new solutions. What you'll do: You independently run complex technical projects or assist in the management of these projects You coordinate work performed by development staff and internal customers and/or partners, including defining project requirements, performing feasibility and needs and/or impact assessments You develop detailed project plans and manage all implementation processes, including prioritization, progress tracking, monitoring change control process, testing, documentation, training, and timely delivery within budget constraints You run the agile ceremonies as a scrum master and run the development process in conjunction with several internal stakeholders and the development team You ensure project portfolio data and key attributes, e.g. estimates, assignments, and tasks are current and relevant, including regular reporting to and sync-ups with internal product, portfolio, and engineering teams You drive and communicate issues, deliverables, key project milestones across functional areas You effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion You effectively balance trade-offs between cost/schedule versus business benefit Provide thought leadership to the team on massive-scale application issues such as reliability, serviceability, and performance You'll support and follow the Expedia Software Development Lifecycle and actively advance standard methodologies (e.g. Agile/Scrum, Continuous Delivery) You’ll ensure your team delivers high quality & on-time products and continuously innovates to improve engineering efficiency Drive evolution of standards & design patterns with industry standard methodologies and new technology to enhance productivity, quality, and system performance Drive program & system architecture discussions to identify a suitable quality solution to the business requirement You will be a senior person and support leadership role and engaged in critical projects You will work closely with the Sr. Manager or Director in Program Management and help in process improvement and organizational structure Project Execution: Lead all aspects of medium to large program related activities and is accountable for the success, execution, and final delivery of the program and work products Manage Project Scope: Obtain senior management approval for the program by presenting the program scope. Oversee regular project status/quality meetings and reports Address Program Issues: Keep management well informed on a timely basis on project or program progress, status, and/or concerns for each assignment. Review project metrics and facilitate project scorecard development to ensure enterprise-wide program success Program Communication: Develop program communication plans and demonstrates effective communication to the executive management team, and project team(s) Cultivate Relationships: Cultivate business partner and project team relationships and help manage expectations, providing excellent customer service. Establish alliances with other departments by recognizing dependencies to assess potential partnership and commitment to the program Project Leadership: Provide vision, strategic leadership, governance, and support to the Project Management Team through competent and professional services including guidance, coaching, and counseling Who you are: Bachelor's or Master's in a technology focused business degree or within the field of engineering or other technical related discipline; or equivalent related professional experience. 5-7 years of Program Management (very large initiatives with multiple Project Managers) OR 6-10 years of Project Management experience supporting software development 3 years of hands-on Agile experience Experience in software development preferred Experience in building service-oriented architecture solutions Experience/Understanding of in DB/SQL queries, Relational DB, No-SQL DBs Detail oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of business and technical choices & identify what truly matters; problem solving skills a requirement Effective written and oral communication with multiple levels of vendor, business and technical leadership Comprehensive understanding of software processes (development, configuration, testing, and deployment) is critical in this role Maturity, judgment, negotiation/influence skills, analytical skills, and leadership skills are important Passion to make things better at every opportunity Ability to credibly coordinate between technical teams and business stakeholders Familiarity with travel domain Familiarity with AWS/Cloud Familiarity with Tableau, Salesforce and Looker Experience with business metrics, modeling and/or risk management Prior experience as a scrum manager or agile product owner Business/Process Analyst experience or hands on engineering background An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to drive innovation independently # L1 – SA21 At Expedia Group, we believe in bringing people together and creating an inclusive workplace where everyone belongs and can do their best work.
