Description:
As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will provide technical leadership over the design, build, and FAT of UniMelt systems for both the Additive and Energy Divisions. This is an Expert-level position in the design of complex industrial equipment. This position will be embedded with our Contract Manufacturing partner in Westborough, MA.
Responsibilities include:
· Study the Unit Operations at 6K’s powder manufacturing plants to understand their Strategic and Operational needs
· Study the capabilities and Stage-gate development process of our Contract Manufacturing partner to determine how to best leverage their strengths
· Influence the UniMelt design to help maximize equipment Uptime, Thruput, and Yield (OEE)
· Develop strategies to minimize the time to Install & Commission the UniMelt systems at the powder manufacturing plant
· Act as the Technical liaison between 6K’s Equipment Engineering team in North Andover, MA, and our Contract Manufacturing partner.
· Support the Contract Manufacturing partner in qualifying their Suppliers and verifying First Article Builds
· Help protect the UniMelt build & test schedule. Provide hands-on support with subsystem & System debug and testing
Qualifications:
· BSME;
· 15 years of experience in design/build/validation of industrial equipment.
· Significant experience sustaining Manufacturing Operations in a highly regulated industry
· Strong Communication and Analytical skills. Highly skilled at using data to influence Strategic decisions
· Demonstrated ability to think Strategically, while driving day-to-day Tactical execution
· Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in root cause analyses
· Expertise in the use of systems engineering and quality management tools (FMEA, control plans, IQ/OQ/PQ, 8D, A3)
· Ability to evaluate qualification and process data using standard statistical tools (DOE, gage R&R, process capability indices)
· Experience defining customer requirements and translating user needs into functional specifications (URS, FRD)
· Knowledge of HAZOP and PHA tools for ensuring the safe operation of industrial processes and equipment
· Ability to interpret mechanical and control system documentation (P&ID, GD&T, controls narratives, electrical schematics)
Travel:
· Up to 20% travel. Frequent trips to 6K Inc in North Andover, MA as well as our Additive & Energy Powder Manufacturing plants.
