POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Nurse (RN) in the CVMC Medical-Surgical Unit (Med/Surg) is responsible for direct and indirect professional nursing care to patients including: Provides direct care to assigned patients in conformance with hospital policies, professional standards, physician orders, and approved plan of care. Responsible for indirect nursing functions and activities of assigned nursing personnel. Serves as patient advocate. Provides teaching, counseling and emotional comfort to patients and family members. Functions within limits of Vermont Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and hospital and nursing department policies and procedures. Supports philosophy, objectives, and goals of nursing department. Nursing process will be utilized in the provision of patient care. SHIFTS & HOURS Day and Night Shifts: Our shifts in Med/Surg are typically 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Multiple Schedules: We offer full-time (36 hours/week - 6 shifts/pay period), part time (varied options of 1 or 2 shifts/week), or per diem positions as candidates are qualified and selected, based on our staffing needs. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Current RN license to practice professional nursing in the State of Vermont is required.
