Summary The Sales Engineer position is a member of the Sales Engineering team. The Sales Engineering team is responsible for Sales Enablement by leading the technical contribution through the prospect, qualification, capture, and proposal phases of all pursuit related activity. This includes both direct technical participation by team members, and coordination of all additional support needed throughout the D&S Engineering organization. Working with the Capture Lead, the Sales Engineering team will support, and lead as necessary, all other proposal activity including cross-departmental collaboration and guidance. The Sales Engineering team will be the point of entry for all sales related Engineering support. The Sales Engineer is the lead engineering member of the capture team. Responsible for the overall technical solution development, its compliance, and its approval. This includes all technical content, estimated engineering costs, and engineering work products. The Sales Engineer will ensure that the Technical Solution has been collaboratively put together with the engineering team and that all engineering reviews are conducted, all action items resolved, and all engineering agreements are in place prior to entering the final proposal review and approval cycles. Direct responsibility for leading the execution of all technical tasks including solution, documentation, cost, and proposal schedule for assigned BD, Capture, and Proposal activity, including travel for supporting customer interactions Develop and document high-level technical solutions and describe them in whitepapers, RFI, ROM, and RFP responses Develop early cost estimates in support of assigned capture and proposal activities Work as part of a team of Sales Engineers, Integrated Solution Leads, and supporting staff Reporting of sales engineering activity, priorities, and issues to the Senior Manager, Sales Engineering Provide inputs to support coordination of IR&D activity and programs with BD and Strategy teams to match customer needs with company technology Provide inputs to support management of Product Line roadmaps and Technology roadmaps to ensure the intersection of planned needs and capabilities Travel as needed to provide Engineering input at customer meetings and support D&S coordination across sites Contribute to a highly engaged work environment for department team members Participate in continuing education and industry organizations Participate in planning and execution of company involvement in industry trade shows as assigned Support technical effort and cost estimates for proposals Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferably Computer or Electrical), or Computer Science Minimum 8 years of experience working in an Engineering discipline Minimum 5 years of experience in simulation training systems with a focus on aircraft platforms Understanding of business win concepts to effectively manage engineering department proposal performance Leadership skills necessary to direct a multi-disciplinary team without supervisory authority Experience with Agile methodologies preferred Knowledge of Software Development and Integration, Systems Engineering, and hardware interfaces Experience with proposal processes and activities, including solution architecture and technical writing including the ability to analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Technical acumen to support proposal activity outside company core simulation business Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills Must be eligible for DoD Security Clearance, eligibility for Top Secret clearance preferred Must have the ability to effectively prepare and present information and respond to questions from leadership and internal/external customers. Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. Security Responsibilities Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources. Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
