DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION This is a bulk production operation for fermentation, purification, and drying. POSITION OVERVIEW WITH KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Core Responsibilities: Staff Management Select, develop and motivate qualified staff to effectively carry out department functions and provide for the continuity of managerial and specialized skills. Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to staff consistent with cGMP and company corporate quality governance. Coach and mentor staff in all aspects of their job performance and career development including training, feedback, rewards, and disciplinary action. Develop work plans, assign tasks, and supervised team (s). Ensure that staff has appropriate knowledge of department processes and procedures. Train and provide guidance to manufacturing employees to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety. Perform thorough batch records and log reviews. Budget May provide input into the department budget. Department Management Maintain and report applicable department or organizational metrics. Accountable for project completions and achievement of compliance goals. Represent department in Project Team meetings. Interact with Project teams and cross-functional groups as they impact the quality of operation. Address and/or escalate site compliance problems and issues. Generate documentation change requests, perform deviation investigations and implement corrective and preventative action assignments. Additional Responsibilities: Implement and maintain production schedules based on intra-departmental information. Demonstrate familiarity with ERPs. Utilize Lean tools to engage the staff in continuous improvement. Assist manager in the development of production schedules and assist in short and long-term planning. Facilitate “Managing for Daily Improvement” meetings with manufacturing staff. Identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction to increase efficiency and lower the Cost of Goods. Communicate with cross-functional staff to meet department and site goals. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 2 years of Supervisory experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Trackwise experience is a plus. Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of cGMP manufacturing experience. SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS This position requires physical demands of lifting up to 30 pounds. A minimum of 50% of the time is spent on the production floor.
