Job Description Your Title: Database Developer Job Location: Christchurch, Hybrid working options available Position Overview: The Business Systems Team at Trimble has created some modern and well-loved web applications that are critical to our global business. This team describes themselves as a collaborative and innovative Agile team and this role will enable further growth in terms of adding high-value features and supporting uptake by a wider audience. Underneath these applications reside a single cloud Amazon Relational Database Service with business logic encoded in stored procedures and related tables. This dataset is then related to a single global instance of Oracle Enterprise Business Suite with deeper business logic encoded in PL/SQL stored procedures and related tables. This role will be involved with both these technologies. What you’ll do: Consider potential work items from both a size and customer value perspective. Contribute to collective decision making around the amount of work to undertake in a single work cycle. Day to day see your contribution being integral to the overall team goals and support every team member. Keep quality and progress for our stakeholder’s front of mind. Be prepared to demonstrate and explain work completed to promote understanding. Also keep useful information updated on the team site. Help the team improve processes by sharing and taking onboard topics discussed in retrospective. What skills / qualifications / experience you’ll should bring: Excellent SQL skills and knowledge of relational databases at a technical level. Comfortable writing and debugging SQL and PL/SQL in large databases. Understanding of transactional issues in online applications. Comfortable working within an evolving development process. Open to sharing, reviewing and having code reviewed to enhance code quality. Some exposure of working with oracle database or oracle e-business suite. Able to demonstrate working knowledge of mysql, Amazon hosting and git. What skills / qualifications / experience you’ll could bring: Understanding of operational issues in a global 24/7 enterprise. Contributor to team goals and aligned with practicing agile methodology. Experience with systems integration between COTS and green field applications. Database design and ETL between databases. Bachelors in Computing Science or similar would be advantageous but not essential if you possess relevant comparable experience.
