Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting in the oversight of the Agencys facility management, maintenance, landscaping, custodial services, transportation services, as well as overseeing and coordinating the Centers safety management activities and practices. Will be assisting in the implementation and monitoring of the environment of care to ensure the safety standards are met for the clients, associates, and Center. This position is responsible for ensuring that the buildings and grounds are in excellent condition presenting a positive first impression and safe healthcare environment. A person in this position interacts with people from various backgrounds including staff, stakeholders, clients, and vendors and must be comfortable interacting with all levels of people in a courteous and professional manner. This position is responsible for ensuring continued compliance with all regulatory agencies including, but not limited to the Joint Commission, Indiana Department of Health, and all codes and regulations at the federal, state, and local level. This position works closely with the Chief Financial Officer & Chief Administrative Officer to develop annual facility budget and aligns resources with the Centers vision and strategic goals. This position operates with a large degree of autonomy and must exercise tact, judgment, and confidentiality in contact with the public, governmental bodies, other agencies, clients and families, as well as fellow associates of the agency. Work is very broad in scope and requires a high level of professionalism.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Member of the safety committee.
  • Maintain knowledge and compliant with, required laws/regulations and ordnances such as construction practices, HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, Life Safety Code, OSHA, EPA etc.
  • Work with the Chief Financial Officer & Chief Administrative Officer in the preparation of expense budgets, property leases, utilities, insurances, and facility planning.
  • Supervise Facility Technician including interviewing, hiring, terminating, training, and scheduling to ensure continuous delivery of services.
  • Ensure the security of all Center property through regular maintenance and conducting regular asset audits along with the Director of Accounting (or designee).
  • Ensure vendor cleanliness of parking areas, landscaping/grounds, and sidewalks.
  • Purchase fuel for generator and expendable supplies as necessary.
  • Obtain estimates for repair and replacement when applicable balancing costs with quality
  • Direct inspections regarding fire, general safety, hazardous materials, and appearance, documenting the results and coordinating any actions that may be needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Agencys Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) emergency preparedness.
  • Update emergency plans throughout the Center for all locations.
  • Attend and participate in district meetings at least quarterly for emergency preparedness.
  • Regularly and consistently monitor life safety assessments, documenting needed improvements when necessary.
  • Document inspection reports that address the environment of care. Such reports should cover reducing and controlling environmental hazards and risks, preventing accidents and injuries, and maintaining safe conditions for individuals served, visitors, and associates while ensuring a therapeutic environment of care that meets the needs of individuals served.
  • Maintain the Statement of Conditions for all Center buildings, monitoring life safety assessments on a consistent basis and when necessary, plans for improvements.
  • Create, update, and assist in implementing policies.
  • Arrange for and conduct workshops, trainings, and education on safety/environment of care issues for Center associates; includes presenting safety information at new hire orientation.
  • Maintain an on-going safety program in compliance with OSHA, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Joint Commission Standards, DMHA, ISDH etc. collect information about deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain an on-going hazardous materials program.
  • Maintain management plans for Safety Management, Security Management, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management, Life Safety Management including Joint Commission Standards, Medical Equipment Management, Utility Systems Management and Physical Environment.
  • Maintain testing and inspections of all operational components of the management plans.
  • Has the authority to intervene whenever emergency conditions pose a threat to life or health or the damage to equipment or property; an immediate report about the incident must be made and provided to the Compliance Officer/Director of Quality & Safety.
  • Monitor and report on associate incidents.
  • Abide by all Center policies and procedures.
  • Maintain positive working relations and rapport with the communities served.

Additional Annual Compensation and Incentive Opportunities!!

  • Eligible for $150/month ($1,800 annually) in student loan repayment, available at hire

Qualifications


Education:

  • Minimum of High School graduate or GED required.
  • Bachelors Degree in engineering or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 1 year facility, safety, and/or maintenance (2 preferred)

Necessary skills:

  • Ability to supervise others, motivate and maintain harmonious relationships among and between associates.
  • Ability to prioritize workload though problem-solving, creative thinking, time management and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to make appropriate judgements regarding unsafe conditions and report those issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Well-spoken and comfortable with public speaking and presentations. The ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Must have a customer service focus, embracing servant leadership attitude while employing a high degree of conflict resolution skills and composure in stressful situations.
  • High level of maturity and ability to meet and interact with people in various occupations and lifestyles, both internally and externally.
  • Highest level of integrity including ability to exercise stewardship on entrusted materials, supplies, and personal information.
  • Fundamental knowledge of building infrastructure, maintenance, repair, safety, and facility security.
  • Understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Understanding of Life Safety Code, OSHA, and EPA compliance.
  • Development and Management of Deferred Maintenance Plans and Preventative Maintenance Plans.
  • Grounds management experience.
  • Custodial management experience.

Other:

  • Willingness to pursue certification(s), such as CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager), CFM (Certified Facility Manager) or FMC (Facilities Management Certificate).
  • Workshops/Conference attendance relating to Joint Commission/CMS standards, state board of health regulations as well as OSHA regulations.
