Key Responsibilities The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for ensuring the company’s supply chain remains in alignment with the needs of the company. This role supports the overall strategic direction associated within assigned commodity responsibility and directly supports local production. In this role, you will be responsible for proactively assisting in the development of sourcing strategies that are aligned with business and program needs, and then drive execution of those strategies while ensuring quality, delivery, capacity, and cost targets are met or exceed expectations. Key Aspects of the Role Develop and implement key initiatives to support the category strategic objectives Manage new and/or existing supplier relationships with international, multi-tier, or highly technical suppliers Prepare scope of work and associated bid packages for commodity analysis Solicit bids and perform comparative and competitive analysis. Evaluate price, commodity, and/or market trends to identify risks or opportunities, and prepare and present contract recommendations Identify emerging technology and/or sources to proactively reduce total costs while optimizing business performance (Total Cost of Ownership, Inventory Management, Capacity Analysis, Risk Mitigation) Develop and manage supply agreements for critical or high-risk supply channels Participate in meetings with customers to understand project requirements Serve as a member of the New Product Introduction teams (NPI) responsible for supplier evaluation and selection Engage Engineering and Suppliers on ESI (early supplier involvement) opportunities for NPI activity; ensure optimal component design which will include recommendations related to first article pricing, input for improved manufacturability efficiencies and material quality Liaison between Supplier, Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering – problem solving related to drawings, quality issues, new projects, innovation, and best practices Escalate and help resolve issues with supplier payments resulting in Credit hold situations Initiate conversation with Suppliers regarding Supply Chain Financing. Provide assistance as needed to resolve Drive supply base rationalization and consolidation Complying with policies, guidelines, regulatory requirements and meeting objectives Ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with Company Values and current Company Policies and Procedures About You To excel in this role, you will have a minimum 5 years professional related work experience including previous material sourcing and procurement experience utilizing global and domestic supply chains for products/components. Experience with manufacturing processes to enable success in sourcing product such as electrical, hydraulics, steel fabrication and machined components. Ability to read and understand CAD drawings. You possess strong negotiating skills and have a thorough understanding of strategic and sourcing category techniques. Required Competencies Commodity experience with “steel/metals’-based commodities: Small fabrications, Machined components, and Castings & Forging Understanding of associated fab / production tooling Understand fabrication, welding and machining processes and procedures Experience with Indirect materials and services is a plus. Other Qualifications Knowledge of ERP/MRP and their applications Proficient in Microsoft Suite (especially PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) A thorough understanding of strategic sourcing and category management techniques Experience with manufacturing processes to enable success in sourcing product such as electrical, hydraulics, steel fabrication and machined components Familiarity with production costing, inventory control and supply chain organization strategies Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills Working knowledge of Job Costing, including materials, labor, and transportation Ability to read and understand CAD drawings Ability to function independently and produce results that meet standards of quality, timeliness and acceptability with minimal supervision and general direction. Excellent Negotiation Skills and problem solving, decision making and planning capabilities Ability to function independently and produce results that meet standards of quality, timeliness and acceptability with minimal supervision and general direction. Fluency in both written and oral English; Spanish is a plus Must be able to legally work in the USA Education: Bachelors or advanced degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
