Job Purpose:

The Back of the House Shift Leader is an exemplary individual tasked with setting the example of 4505 values and mission. Shift leaders are supervisors and support the team to achieve an outstanding guest satisfaction and employee experience. Shift leaders communicate with management team on all kitchen, food, and employee issues. Shift leaders may provide direction and may address guest and food quality issues.

The BOH Shift Leader duties and responsibilities include the following but are not limited to this overview,
• Have strong multitasking skills.
• Be knowledgeable, informed, and current on our menu offerings.
• Daily, smoking, grilling, and slicing meat.
• Maintain clean and organized service areas.
• Give prompt and courteous response to guest, team, and supervisor requests.
• Optimize and maintain equipment and report malfunctions.
• Anticipate guest and team member needs.
• Provide direction, manage punches, when sous chef or MOD are not present.
• Communicate with management when supplies are low.
• Communicate in a professional, positive, and respectful manner with all team members and guests
• Attend required meetings and participate in team trainings.
• Assist in cleaning projects, deep cleaning, cleaning up irregular messes including back areas, restrooms, guest areas, employee areas, stock rooms, coolers, sweeping.
• Be the point person for kitchen when sous, chef, manager are not present.
• Be the point person for daily BBQ production.
• Operate and execute a station on the line and able to jump in other stations to operate successfully when needed.
• May be required to deliver via a car offsite deliveries and caterings and work offsite on occasion for special events.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include,
• Must be available for day and evening shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Proficient in BBQ, butchering skills a plus.
• Knife skills a plus.
• Have a passion for the sustainable food and hospitality industry.
• Professional demeanor and appearance are required.
• Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to reach, bend, stoop.
• Ability to trouble shoot guest requests.
• Work in a fast pace environment under high pressure circumstances.
• Ability to communicate successfully with team members and guests.
• Basic POS skills a plus.
• Food handling certification.
• Work in a team environment to provide an excellent guest experience.
• Be punctual.
• Communicate with kindness and respect.
• Ability to adhere and follow a rigorous training.
• Able to work very early hours some shifts starting as early as 5:00AM.
• Ability to communicate and serve families with small children.
• Ability to take and execute direction professionally and successfully from all supervisory team members.
• Hard working and self-motivated.
• Strong background in kitchen 2 years’ experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of California break laws and basic HR knowledge a plus.
