365 Retail Markets is seeking a Senior MySQL Database Administrator who will be responsible for interacting with the Management, Development, and Support teams within 365 to continue the build out of a highly optimized, scalable, and redundant database solution. The DBA will own all facets related to the database from optimization through disaster recovery to writing and maintaining documentation. The DBA must also develop and apply an in-depth understanding of company and industry best practice methodologies, policies, standards, and controls to participate in all database life management phases. 

Responsibilities 

• Maintain an AWS RDS hosted MySQL database in a 24X7 environment
• Tune queries to improve performance; Work with developers and suggest ways to improve performance
• Troubleshooting performance problems, Disk/Memory/CPU utilization within AWS and suggest resolutions
• Ensure availability and performance of all databases.
• Ensure no lag in MySQL Replication
• Review, update and document disaster recovery strategy
• Review, update and document disaster backup strategy
• Create and maintain indexes 
• Advise developers on the most efficient database designs
• Find and resolve database integrity issues
• Monitor Database Server Performance
• Administer AWS jobs, alerts and backups; Ability to write alert scripts which monitor DB specific situations
• Deployment of database change scripts
• Understanding of columnar databases / Snowflake / BigQuery / RedShift and ETL / ELT
• Support internal and external users with ad-hoc queries relating to regulatory reporting
• Work with Security team to maintain PCI/PA-DSS compliance
• Occasionally work with customers on ticket resolution

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, related degree or equivalent experience
• 5 years of relevant work experience
• Experience with MySQL 5.7 / 8, Snowflake
• Experience with MySQL Replication
• Strong experience working with Unix/Linux and Shell Scripting
• Experience with Snowflake and ETL
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with others in a team environment
• Must be able to prioritize tasks
• Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving skills
• Troubleshoot service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends
• Strong sense of personal accountability for results
• Experience with Oracle 18c and/or SQL Server 2016 is a big plus
• Experience with AWS Aurora, a plus but not required
• Experience with ETL tools such as FiveTran or custom written solutions, a plus but not required
