If you want to grow your skills and develop your career, find out more at www.imerys.com The PositionMaintenance Apprentice Job Summary Position Title Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice Department/Location Maintenance / Andersonville, GA Reports to (Job Title) Maintenance Supervisor(s) Direct Reports (Job Title) None Job Summary The Mechanic is responsible for mechanical support for the Andersonville site to include support of the installation and rebuilding machinery and miscellaneous equipment and parts. the Mechanical Apprentice position is responsible for assisting mechanics, foreman and maintenance supervisors with their daily tasks. Under the supervision of Imerys maintenance personnel, the Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice will learn to maintain the equipment at the Andersonville site. The Apprentice is expected to complete coursework in a classroom/online setting. Key Tasks and Responsibilities The Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice will assist, learn and perform all necessary repairs and/or modifications to plant machinery or equipment as required to maintain optimum availability under the direct supervisor of Imerys Maintenance Personnel. Repairs may include rebuilding/replacement of machinery, gearboxes, bearings; fabrication to include cutting/welding of metal plates for chutes, structures, etc. Assist and Perform Preventative Maintenance procedures as assigned Follow all Safety procedures while performing duties to include but not limited to LOTOTO, wearing appropriate PPE for assigned duties Perform Level 2 or higher maintenance on equipment in area of responsibility as needed Maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility as per Imerys Refractory Minerals standards Perform any additional duties as described Maintenance Supervisor Maintain clean work spaces Complete all classroom/online coursework Skills and Attributes Requirements Must be able to effectively communicate both orally or written Must be able to work shifts as per schedule Must be able to work in hot and cold weather conditions. Must be able to climb ladders and work in high places. Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted Will be required to wear all necessary PPE Will require basic computer skills necessary to access/write emails, basic word documents, complete work requests Willing to work safely in all environments and in every situation Able to operate mobile equipment Able to become familiar with machinery through work experience and study of instruction manuals Able to follow instructions and directions Able to complete all classroom/online assignments within the required time frame and with a satisfactory grade Education/Experience Requirements Must have a High School Diploma or GED Environment While performing the duties of this job; the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise, outside weather in all conditions and materials used in the process. Frequent walking, standing, and sitting with exposure to all seasonal climatic conditions. Occasionally lifting, carrying, and/or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Approximately 100% plant environment.
