Job Description What you will do You will report directly to the Head of Experience Technology and play at critical role on our Shield Interfaces Platform team, partnering with leaders and engineers across the enterprise as a key member of the Experience Technology practice – leading not only our engineering approach but also having the responsibility for developing and communicating development standards, testing, requirements, and training. You will lead a team of engineers and UI developers who are tasked with creating our mobile design system for native components, as well as partnering with your responsive web counterpart for web-view integrations and standardization. You will also partner with our flagship mobile iOS and Android engineering leads to manage architecture, performance, standards, testing, and accessibility best practices and defect remediation. This is a unique and critical role that will leverage your vast experience and mastery of both design and mobile development for iOS and Android. You’ll lead the coordination of all enterprise mobile UI developers to build, document, and manage our Shield mobile design system – a white label UI system that seeks to standardize our approach to UI development based on atom principles, reusable components, data modeling, and ultimately the ability to combine design, content, and code for automation and low-code development. This role requires deep experience in both design and frontend engineering, as well as experience architecture, content modeling, accessibility, testing, layout grids, tokens, extensible/decoupled architectures and white label systems. Responsibilities: Lead large scale digital experience implementations of websites and mobile apps with hands on contributions to the software design, development and integration. Hire, lead and manage a team of onshore, offshore and/or remote Agile based development team(s) and perform code reviews Assist product leadership teams by conducting project planning, risk identification and mitigation planning. Provide strong leadership skills, including the ability to facilitate team and client meetings effectively and to deliver constructive feedback Work together with product managers, experience design, and technical leads to create and groom backlog, plan sprints and set team priorities Build detailed functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria for product and process enhancements Make and support decisions through research, impact to the business, customers and talking with leadership, and development teams Track your team’s progress towards sprint goals and realign the team’s focus each week in order to complete the highest priority deliverables Define and track success metrics for new features to learn from and iterated on in an Agile environment Lead a team of developers, prioritizing activities, provide/create training, removing obstacles, and ensuring the delivery of quality code on time Own the technology space, ensuring a high-performing, agile, and scalable solutions framework that can support rapid business expansion. Ensure a high degree of readiness and clarity going into sprint cycles to remove ambiguity and minimize risk Work with cross-functional stakeholders and development teams to integrate new systems into the site Establish performance monitoring systems and protocols to ensure a high degree of availability, system readiness, and global site performance Diagnose and resolve obstacles that prevent the team from delivering results Provide a complete, integrated technology platform that follows high code standards when it comes to testability, performance, scalability, automation, and code coverage Own the tools and infrastructure to empower and accelerate development, and lead the charge in modernizing our software stack Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience Six to eight years of relevant experience Preferred Skills/Experience Strong experience designing and developing iOS or Android native for mobile phones, and tablets Strong Experience in native iOS or Android frameworks (API, unit testing, deployment, etc.) Excellent programming skills in Object ‘c’/Swift OR Kotlin/Java High degree of knowledge of design, native components, and mobile application accessibility (ADA/WCAG 2.1) Experience with iOS or Android SDK performance tools, and optimization. Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Svn,) Familiarity with build systems (gradle, maven), CI tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, Nexus Understanding of DevOps capabilities – containers, cloud, automation, security, configuration management, CI/CD Ability to switch among multiple projects, multiple languages, and multiple IDEs in short periods of time (and some time in the same period of time) Proficient understanding of algorithms, data structures, architectural design patterns and best practices. Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles. Excellent communication, presentation skills, leadership, problem solving and analytical skills.
