About the Opportunity The FedCash Services group with Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) is seeking a Business Process Architect to add to its Business Architecture practice. FedCash Services provides operational mentorship and technology strategies for U.S. currency and coin supplied to depository institutions by the 12 Federal Reserve Banks. The Business Architecture practice supports the pursuit of business-cost-efficient innovation by establishing and maintaining an architectural frame of reference for the Cash line of business as well as engaging analytical approaches to provide insight into business challenges and opportunities. The work of the Business Architecture team is primarily focused in three areas: Building and maturing architectural reference models of the Cash line of business Leading and/or adding to the development and documentation of strategic efforts Investigating business problems and conceptualizing potential future systems and operational changes The day-to-day work involves interacting with myriad team members, including the 28 Federal Reserve cash offices, national operations, compliance bodies, information technology teams, product management and other functions in the Cash Community. The business architecture practice is business focused and seeks to understand business problems before considering technological or operational solutions. Responsibilities Develops, publishes, and maintains a functional capability model of the business; maps key processes and information flows; defines entities, both internal and external, that commits to or impact the business; ultimately, crafts a framework for understanding how the business delivers products and services (i.e., value) to its customers Builds Business Operating Model, Business Model, Business Process Model, Business Capability Model, Business Motivation Model, Value Stream Model and/or Heat Maps Participates in strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, business essentials and business innovation portfolio development Seeks ways to apply new technology to, and reuse existing technology for, business processes Collaborates with all other architects to ensure that architecture aligns with business architecture standards Researches and provides information on technical trends and competitors' practices relevant to assigned groups Facilitates agreement on organizational work models to meet business requirements Maps information flows, chart value streams, diagram processes, and model system dynamics to facilitate common understanding across teams Meets with IT teams to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements Participates in domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction Analyzes, designs, and develops a roadmap and implementation plan Analyzes the current architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements Analyses and evaluates emerging technology, industry and market trends Counsel on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others Uses business architecture to promote innovation, process improvement, and digital transformation Qualifications Bachelor in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Systems Analysis, Process Engineering, Management/Business, or a related field 5 years of validated experience with varied business process and IT product development, from design through development, testing, implementation, and adoption/production Comprehensive understanding of more than one design method and at least one subject area that is considered to be at the level of an authority Ability to lead and influence others Ability to respect diversity of opinion and experience while building consensus Effective and professional speaking abilities; ability to translate intricate topics and abstract concept's capability to a range of audiences (Preferred) Understands cash operations, the software systems that support cash operations, and how cash services fit into the mission of the broader FRFS (Preferred) Extensive understanding of the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge or other business architecture framework All employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or qualify for an accommodation from the Bank’s vaccination policy; the Bank will provide accommodations as required by law for individuals unable to be vaccinated due to medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.
