An Ultrasound Technologists responsibilities include explaining procedures to patients, positioning patients and equipment, performing examinations, and maintaining and operating specialized radiologic equipment. Operate special equipment that uses high-frequency sound waves to record images of internal organs. Recognize and record the appropriate anatomy and pathology using sonographic equipment. Decide which still images, or sonograms, to capture and present to the physician for diagnostic purposes. Care properly for sonography equipment and report equipment failure. Write reports based upon the scan results and completion. Maintain patients' records and medical notes on the ultrasound procedure they have undergone. Evaluate the images for quality and interpret the images to assist the physicians in diagnosing and treating diseases. Maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality.
